Czarina is a collection inspired by ​antique Russian prints & embroidery. Pallavi has​sourced scraps of these prints for years in antique markets all over the world. ​There were bits and pieces of torn – frayed pieces of garments, ​some printed and some with bits of embroidery on them.

Inspired by these vintage​ bits and pieces of garment she has​ created a collection with​ prints – paisleys in earthy Reds, vibrant blues with a touch of Black, retaining the classic look and feel reminiscent of Russia of yore. The fabric used are chiffon and georgettes woven with lurex flowers – there are crepe de chinees and raw silk prints too. There are sarees,​ kurtas with ​light weight printed woolen shawls to go with the garments.​

​F​rom dusty rose to old ​b​lue to a beautiful pearl colour with silver as well as gold embroidery, done in French sequence, cords and French Tapes, adds all the traditional Russian touches​.

There is also a classic wedding collection in b​right, h​appy and auspicious colours like red – kesariya, a​pricots and bright pink! TThese consist of Lehengas-Sharara’s-Long Jackets with Lehengas.  A wide collection of sarees and Lehenga sarees.  The fabrics used are gossamer nets – georgettes – raw silks as well as duchess satins.  There are woven silk sarees like Upadas – Kanjivarams and ikats as well as bandhanis in Pallavi Jaikishans signature style.

Following the success at the NYFW runway last year, Archana Kochhar  showcased her new digital collection “A Tale of Two Travels”, a mélange of her travel to the breathtaking Taj Mahal and the village of the colorful nomadic tribe Banjara, at the “FTL New York Fashion Week.

Further promoting the concept of all-inclusive beauty, Designer Archana Kochhar’s initiative “Bring Beauty Back”, at the FTL New York Fashion Week, saw acid attack survivor Reshma Banoo Qureshi  walking the ramp.

aThe collection inspired by Banjara is a part of the “Make in India” Campaign, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Here I have worked with different sets of artisans from across India trying to revive and re-energize different art forms of India, some of which are dying. The translation of the collection is modern, keeping the essence of Banjara intact. My second inspiration of the collection is by the magnificent Taj Mahal, this palatial structure is known as the epitome of Love with its exquisiteness and elegance earned it the title of one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The most interesting aspect of this collection is the way the Taj has been depicted in Banjara handwriting. I feel it is a very contemporary translation of Taj, which has never been attempted before”, shared Designer Archana Kochhar.

Inspired by French Empress Josephin de Beauharnais’ love for roses the collection celebrated the Parisian culture & fantasy with much grandeur. Asymmetric silhouettes and fabric detailing using absolute sheer and appliqué techniques had been incorporated to create strong build yet flowy resort styles. Colour palette in pastels like white, mint blue and vintage rose ruled the collection along with interesting back detailing on the jackets and tops teamed with drape pallazos and shorts to create a fusion look.

The butterfly effect further turned more edgy with the sharp Ikats and Jamdani weaves from Phulia and also the monochromatic prints in stark red and black along with beige and black.
The collection includes easy resort wear with shirt dresses, maxis  and jumpsuits going into cocktail dresses and gown to the dressy crop  tops and palazzos and then moving on to the more elaborate skirts and lehengas and saris but with an element of fun making it more free spirited and bohemian.

Whilst their Menswear is inspired by this very theme and is equally fluid in feel and look. The Kurtas, Bundees, Bandhgalas and Achkans do not conform to the traditional pattern.
