untitledAs part of the month of the French culture in Cuba, the House of CHANEL is presenting the exhibition “Obra en Proceso / Work in Progress” by Karl Lagerfeld at the Factoría Habana in Cuba, from April 28th to May 12th 2016.

This exhibition, divided into three sections representing the designer’s main interests – fashion, architecture and landscapes – brings together more than 200 of Karl Lagerfeld’s photographs. It explores the great diversity of subjects, approaches and techniques that define the very personal and subtle interpretation that makes Karl Lagerfeld’s photography. For him, a photo is not just an image but also a unique visual object.

The 2016/17 Cruise collection show will be presented on the 3rd May 2016 on El Paseo del Prado in Havana, few days after the opening of the exhibition.

The 31st edition of the International Festival of Fashion at Hyères Grand Jury Prize Première Vision went to Japanese designer Wataru Tominaga.

A Central Saint Martin’s graduate, Tominaga switched studies, moving from Print to Fashion Design, producing last year a series of multi-coloured menswear designs for his graduate collection.

In his designs that charmed the Hyères Jury he mixed shapes, patterns and colours, coming up with oversized and distorted garments in mismatching shades such as plissé sleeveless jackets and shirts quite often decorated with white, blue, red, yellow and green flocked stripes.

The most interesting thing about the collection was indeed the fact that the designer created his textiles using elastic tapes to gather and manipulate his fabrics, reuniting a machine-made aspect (printed patterns) with a handmade techique (the surface texture).

For what regards the other fashion awards, the Chloé Prize and the Honourable Mention from the Jury went to Hanne Jurmu & Anton Vartiainen, while Amanda Svart won the Public Award City of Hyères; for the photography section, the Grand Jury Prize went to Vendula Knopovà, Anaïs Boileau won instead the Public Award City of Hyères.

princePrince the creative icon, will be remembered not just for his music, but also for the mark he made on the fashion world, given his flair and panache, he was able to pull off any outfit.

One of his most memorable looks was undoubtedly the (fittingly) purple suit and white ruffled shirt he wore in the film clip for his hit song Purple Rain.

Donatella Versace remembered Prince as one of her “closest friends”. “I am crying. All my memories are coming back to me. He was one of my closest friends. I will always love him.”

Designer Michael Kors echoed the sentiment, describing the singer as “one of a kind” in an Instagram post.

While Madonna’s heartbreaking tribute to the late icon was extremely heartfelt as she posted an emotional photo and message on her Instagram account saying, Grab your tissues, this one’s a tearjerker.

Today, the world lost a creative icon,” Obama said in a statement. “Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent. As one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time,Prince did it all. Funk. R&B. Rock and roll. He was a virtuoso instrumentalist, a brilliant bandleader, and an electrifying performer.
