With New York fashion week acquiring new address, London fashion week ss16, too moved from Somerset house to Brewer Street, Soho. This new central London location in the West End, provides an epicentre for a city-wide fashion celebration with close proximity to major retail spaces.

Spanning two floors of the Brewer Street Car Park, the new venue will play host to designer catwalk shows in the BFC Show Space and the Designer Showrooms with a whole host of designers debuting their spring/summer 2016 collections. The day started with Zandra Rhodes and J.JS Lee’s flowing maxi dresses with yellow, powder blue and pink stripes brought the collection to life and embodied the spring/summer feel with elegant silhouettes.

Dame Zandra Rhodes collection as a part of her collaborative efforts to revive Malaysian textiles internationally showcased her imagination of day and evening wear in vibrant and exclusive batiks and songket . This will be the first time ever that a Malaysian textiles will be featured at London Fashion Week on its official schedule, alongside more established labels like Paul smith, Vivien Westwood and Versus. Next up was Felder Felder, providing more of a vintage feel. Looks ranged from the demure to the daring with models strutting down the runway in everything from girly bodycons to see-through maxi dresses.

Ethereal whites and pastel colours were juxtaposed with riotous display of orange and fuschia in Bora Aksu’s influential collection. While Italian designer Manuel Facchini showed gothic rock and neoprene sportswear, taking inspiration from an eagle’s wings. Edeline lee’s animated designs were reminiscent of Japanese street styles.

The day ended with Samantha McCoach, wistfully nostalgic Scots background taking us to 90’s.Le Kilt will also be showing at Touba London showroom.

Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega is celebrating its 100 years of watchmaking with a female-centric exhibition titled ‘Her Time’ at LaTriennale di Milano.

The white and gold themed exhibition features archival timepieces and vintage imagery and advertising, shedding light on the evolution of the fashion statements women have made through their wristwatches over the past 100 years. Organized by time period, watches are paired with vintage objects and memorabilia.

Items on display range from Lèpine pendants to the Ladymatic, first introduced in 1955 and still popular today. Other eras covered include the 1920s, 1960s and 1970s.

The exhibition is open to public till 25th September, 2015.

Luxury beauty brand Elizabeth Arden has unveiled its first-ever freestanding temporary boutique in Paris.

Located in the heart of 16th arrondissement, at the 53 Rue de Passy, the 80sqm store’s interior is designed by the Leonard El Zein agency and features high ceilings and large windows alongside luxurious materials with a matte finish such as polished concrete floors, modern furniture with vintage accents and driftwood.

The store offers Skincare Bar, Makeup Bar and Oxygen Beauty Blast. In addition the store has Color Match Maker and products never before sold in France, including the Prevage line. Four beauty consultants are on hand to help customers make their choice.

The store will be open till 31st December. 2015.

For the new leather goods campaign, photographer David Sims produced a series of portraits of the brands muse Jennifer Lawrence and the actress aptly lend her allure.

Jennifer reveals saying that they’re usually filled with some not-very-glamorous things showing off

the Fall/Winter 2015 collections for Dior’s Be Dior and Diorissimo bags. Opening up about what she keeps in her own designer accessories in a behind-the-scenes video, ‘I keep in my handbag… a phone, house keys, car keys. A lot of keys,’ she said. ‘My purse is very noisy. I have just, like, airport bags that are filled with gum wrappers and old tickets. I normally use smaller bags for dressing up and big bags for airport bags.’

Yana Ngoba will be showcasing during London Fashion Week’s off schedule shows – Fashions Finest on Saturday, 19th September 2015, 4pm at The Grand Connaught Rooms, London.

Yana Ngoba’s design label ‘Yana In Style ‘ aims to carry forward the legacy passed on by the forefathers in North East India, bringing to the fore heritage handlooms, woven fabrics, handmade jewellery made of bronze, brass, stones and broken bones.

For her collection at Fashions Finest- London Fashion Week, Yana has collaborated with fabric designer, Nabam Aka to bring to life, loin loom – one of the oldest looms in the world.  A heritage fabric is hand-woven by the weavers of the Itanagar district in Arunachal Pradesh. The colored fabrics have been dyed using the traditional method of Indigo dyeing, and also with other vegetable colors.

The accessories for this collection are made of hen feathers, agate, bamboo, cane, yarn, silver, brass and jute. With this collaboration, Yana aims to elevate the ethnic accessories and the fabric from loin loom into modern, stylish boho and gypsy international fashion wear.

New York Fashion Week 2016 ended on a high note with some splendid collections by renowned names in fashion world.

Inspired by “the morning after”, Calvin Klein Collection women’s wear designer, Francisco Costa, presented a spring-summer 2016 outing of luxurious bedroom staples that have an androgynous touch. Focusing on the iconic slip dress, Costa delivered a modern take on the lingerie piece with double straps and chain details which drape across like jewelry. Rich silk and satin blends paired with loose-fitting brassieres tie into the bedroom theme. Loose-fitting robes and knitwear in a neutral palette of ivory, eggshell, black and golden taupe was interrupted by floral prints.

Inspired by French style, Ralph Lauren’s spring-summer 2016 offering had seafaring looks featuring plenty of nautical stripes in blue and white pairings. He took a straightforward approach with navy and white in flowy skirts, bodysuits, and jackets and, for a little twist on the classics, wide, pleated pants with ankle-cinching cuffs. Lauren introduced graphic prints in kaleidoscopic blue, yellow, red and green tones for an artistic moment. For evening wear, Lauren showed strapless gowns with nautical stripes.

Marc Jacobs showcased a splendid and eclectic spring 2016 lineup. There were colorful, sequined gowns and fourties-inspired suits and outerwear printed with the faces of actresses from a bygone era. Interspersed between the more formal, statement-making looks were some worn out-looking collegiate sweaters.  The long-sleeved American flag tees, simple flannel button-downs and a denim jacket covered in patches were standout looks. There was an Americana theme that pervaded the bold collection.

J. Mendel’s spring 2016 collection by Gilles Mendel was innovative and relaxed evening wear collection. The lineup was an amalgamation of kimono prints, origami folds, patterned snakeskin and graphic intarsia designs. Models sashayed down the ramp in gowns with slit to reveal asymmetric shorter skirts or panels, lemon and black Yagasuri-printed georgette halter gown with front cascades, a flirty black-and-white halter with a keyhole bodice, and a black and lapis graphic-printed chiffon look.
