For his fall 2014 Haute Couture collection, Varun Bahl presents a modern version of traditional crafts as he completes 10 years of showcasing. The collection represents ten years’ worth of experiences and experiments. It has elements of all his favourite shows: his signature Rose motif, dainty appliques in velvet, intricate hand-embroideries achieved in strips of chiffon and Gota, interplays between volume and structure, layered looks, in his favourite colours from duck-egg blue, navy, black, ivory, silver and gold, mustard, fuchsia, to pale pink.

Varun has experimented with his silhouettes as for Anarkali; he has discarded the de rigueur panels or ‘kalis’ while achieving the same fit-and-flounce with circular-cut patterns. The Sari also gets a contemporary update in the form of the Sari-Pant, a mix two classics that becomes something truly modern along with traditional lehengas inspired by India.

Manikarnika is a woman of the past, reborn in the present says the designer about her upcoming couture show at India Couture Week, on 16th of July, 2014 at 9.30pm

With revival at its crux, Manikarnika is an exploration of the age-old craft and ancient techniques, the embroideries are derived from the architecture, with the paintings of the Ajanta-Ellora caves as perfect muses. The color palette mirrors the earthy, sepia tones like sand, old rose reminiscent of the centuries past. The rich jewel tones of burgundy, ruby, emerald, add the plushness of luxury.

Pallavi Mohan too participated in Who’s Next, the international clothing and accessory trade show, Paris along with Pankaj & Nidhi, ILK, Kavita Bhartia, Hemant & Nandita, Tanvi Kedia.

Who’s Next is the unmissable event for fashion industry professionals. It encompasses all sectors of the market: women’s clothing, urban and men’s fashion, accessories, shoes, leather goods and bags, and jewelry.
