The Palazzo
Palazzo pants for women first became a popular trend in the late 1960s and early 1970s.The style was reminiscent of the wide-legged cuffed trousers worn by some women fond of avant-garde fashions in the 1930s and 1940s. With a reputed history, Palazzos pants are a must have garment this summer flattering in light, flowing fabrics that are breathable in hot weather. LFW SR 2014 designers, Arpita Mehta and Samantha Debashri both swear by this look and feel that it is “one of the trendiest street style garments.”
Denims
Denim is a sturdy cotton twill textile that is one the most popular fabrics. Over time, denim as a material will usually fade, which is desirable by some people today. During the process of wear, fading will usually occur on those parts of the article that receive the most stress. This today is a fashion. Faded denim is a street style material that keeps reoccurring in and off trends. Due to its casual appeal, denim is the fabric that designer LFW SR 2014 designer Samantha Debashri thinks is most used. “Different types of denims, and not just restricted to pants are the trendiest expression in street style”.

Painting Prints
Designer Arpita Mehta identifies the current trend of paintings used as prints in street style fashion. “Random or famous paintings are often adapted as prints, making the patterns colorful and unique. The new cobble print I am working on is an extension of that.” Brush strokes, drawings of animals, graffiti tops and chaotic patterns are definitely a style that is unique to street style. It shows freeness to expression and also adds personality to the garment.

Kolapuri Chappals

“In street style, the right pair of shoes is the most important element. They can make or break your look” says designer duo Armaan & Aiman. A shoe that trends in Indian street style is the Chappal. Comfortable, trendy and affordable, this Indian hand-crafted leather slippers are locally tanned using vegetable dyes are commonly referred to be a style of an open-toed, T-strap sandal. The casualty and versatility of the Kolapuri chappal is what makes it a reoccurring trend in Indian street style. Its strong historical significance makes it a key element for local street .

Inspired by James Turrell’s art Escada’s new fall lineup has a relaxed feel with cropped trousers, double-breasted jacket, patterned furs in purple, green, balck and pink. Daniel Wingate has also experimented with newer silhouettes such as scalloped lace tea-length skirts, painterly winter florals, cocktail frocks and a strapless evening gown.

With New York Fashion week few days away, we present here some sketches from the designers’ closet along with their inspirations –
Monique Lhuillier – Fall 2014 is inspired by graphic architectural detail and old world French Parisian couture techniques while also incorporating a dark romantic side.

Kenneth Cole – Tradition and innovation meet in modern fabrications of plaids, herringbones and pinstripes, with a consistent interplay between soft and tailored.

Rachel Roy – Fall 2014 explores nature deconstructed through an infrared lens. Menswear inspired elements, hand painted prints combined with geometric lines and a saturated color palette commends the modern woman.

Tadashi Shoji – Moorish influenced architecture and textiles.

Norisol Ferrari – Evening wear, the playing field through sheer femininity.

Nicole Miller – My Fall 2014 collection is inspired by strong, iconic women – female warriors.

Bibhu Mohapatra – Tibetan purity.

Desigual – Fall 2014 our senses awakened to the city’s overlooked curiosities and magic—and tempt us to fall in love again with the places and things we think we know, but have more to offer than what lives in our imagination.

Ann Yee – I was inspired by the concept of the modern nomad. Mesmerized by the notion of an urban dweller with an adventurous spirit and non-conformist perspective, I studied the idea of becoming multi-cultural through my surroundings and interactions with the world.

Son Jung Wan- For Fall 2014 I was inspired by the abstract expressionist Mark Rothko, who articulated colors of emotions.

FRINGE IT ON

Fringes seem to be doing the rounds on scarfs to bags to shoes this season… shoe sculptor Payal Kothari feels, a little flow never hurt anyone.

BOTANICAL

Botanical prints with organic hues are the vital colors this season.
The Accessory Fix: Floral prints are dramatic so stay away from accessories that are too pretty. Keep hair messy and let shoes be a little tough!
The Best Look: Team your floral pants with a smart white tee!

THE STUBBORN MULE

This season the mule, once a signature shoe for the over-60 set, has received a youthful makeover. Whether a floral adorned flat, a chunky heel or a sleek stiletto, the new mule is something you’ll want to slip into.
How to Wear Them: Pair your pointed mules with cigarette pants to give you an elongated silhouette.

STRAP THAT ANKLE

This season you’ll see the rise of the ankle strap. Update your wardrobe with this shoe as it gives you that elegant look while securely keeping the shoe on your foot. I particularly favor this look as I feel that it adds a slimming look to the ankle.

Shruti Seth and Danish Aslam invited their friends over for a brunch at the newly opened The Big Bang Bar and Cafe, Oshiwara to celebrate a leisurely White Sunday Brunch.

Relishing the lip smacking cocktails, fresh salads, pastas, risottos and other sumptuous dishes at the unlimited, no holds barred food were Gul Panag, Maria Goretti, Mini Mathur,  Shahana Goswami, TJ Siddhu, Karanvir Bohra, Punit Malhotra, Kabeer Khan, Sidharth Basu and Anita Kaul Basu, Parmeet Sethi and Archana Puran Singh, Anushka Manchanda, Tanveer Bookwala, Mukul Chaddha, Shiv Pandit and many more.
