It’s official. Mayor Bloomberg declared October 24 as Giorgio Armani day in NYC, celebrating his long standing support to the fund for public schools and contributing to the city’s economy through his impact on the global fashion landscape. It is a great honour to receive this recognition, which reaffirms a strong personal and professional bond with New York, a city that has given me and continues giving me so much, said the designer.
While the day might not be designated as a national holiday there’s plenty happening: the brand is staging three events, ‘One Night Only’ in a custom-made venue, ‘Eccentrico’, an exhibition of clothing and photography and an enormous retrospective catwalk show featuring a over 100 Armani Privé looks going back to 2005 on a stellar line-up of model names such as Lindsey Wixson and Christina Kruse, only to culminate with a party in a pop-up club.
