Lately, Tvashtar 2013- an annual fashion show by Sophia Polytechnic’s Dress Designing and Garment Manufacturing department brought to the fore an interesting mix of fashion, heritage and art at Sophia Campus in Mumbai.

The efforts of 29 graduating fashion designer students enthralled the audiences with their unique portrayal of cultural heritage of the world in spellbinding ingenious collections. Depicting exotic beauty and cultural ethnicity of varied countries in their collection, these young designers showcased their creativity as models like Anchal Kumar, Priyanka Shah, Chahat Sabji, Surabhi Rao, Archana Wadekar and Adam Bedi walked the ramp.

The students received immense support from ace fashion choreographer Nisha Harale who distinctively choreographed the entire fashion sequences. The Jury panel was comprised of eminent personalities from fashion fraternity, such as, Jatin Kampani, Sonia Mehra, Payal Singhal and Vikram Razdan.

The fashion show witnessed an electic mix of glamour and glitz with Pooja Bedi as the Chief Guest. The other attendees included Akashdeep Saigal , Claudia Ciesla, Niketan Madhok, Rashmi Pitre, Archana Kochhar and Riyaz Gangji amongst others.
 
Lately, Satya Paul welcomed its new fashion director Masaba Gupta, to New Delhi, as the Mumbai-based designer has recently shifted to the capital, over a lavish brunch at Olive Beach, Hotel Diplomat in New Delhi.

The intimate brunch hosted jointly by Sanjay Kapoor of Genesis Colors and AD Singh of Olive Beach saw the industry stalwarts coming in full force. In a warm gesture towards the new Fashion Director of Satya Paul, the guests signed their wishes on a canvas that the house of Satya Paul then gifted to Masaba.

On the occasion, designer Masaba Gupta enthused, “I’m grateful for this lovely welcome that the Satya Paul team has extended to me, and I know that I will be surrounded by friends in my new home city. I’m looking forward to creating great fashion at Satya Paul, and can’t wait for the WIFW to begin.”

The attendees included Sunil Sethi, Harmeet Bajaj, Kalyani Chawla, Sanjay Sharma, Shivan and Narresh, Anand Bhushan, Gautam Sinha, Niamat Bakshi, Sumaya and Rudra Dalmia, Payal Sen, Aishwarya and Amruda Nayar amongst others. 
 
Engaged in the business of manufacturing and marketing quality food products R. R Oomerbhoy Private Limited (RRO) hosted a first of its kind evening of luxury cheese tasting at Gourmet West, Westside , Kalaghoda in Mumbai.

The evening also hailed brand’s endeavor to bring some of the finest cheese, previously available only abroad at retail outlets such as Waitrose, Harrods, and Whole Foods, to the Indian market through its RRO Cheese Bars.

For the project RRO has  partnered with some of the world’s leading brands – Fromi (France), Auricchio (Italy), and Wyke Farms (UK) to procure exclusive and exotic cheese such as Ash coated Chevre, Triple Crème Brie, Caciotta Ovina Novella with Red peppers, Smoked Provolone Slices, Matured Cheddar and Mango & Ginger Stilton, White Stilton with Cranberry & Apricot.

About bringing around 40 to 50 varieties of cheese under a roof, Roohi Oomerbhoy Jaikishan, Director, RRO said, “We want cheese to be a transcendental experience. This involves educating people about the full range of scents and taste, how to look and feel cheese, and understand its varied textures.”

The evening was attended by the gourmet and fashion enthusiasts of the city including Tasneem Mehta Shaina NC, Haseena Jethmalani, Rukshana and  Mustafa Eisa Queenie Singh, Ramona Narang, Samantha and Nikki Nayar, Gauri Pahoomul, Ashish Goel, Tanaz Doshi, Mallika Advani , Rishad and  Priya Nathani, Shalini Shahani, Bharat And Priyali Mahtani, Amrita & Parthiv Kilachand, Tina Tahiliani,  Vikram Bawa, Mukeeta Jhaveri, Simone & Fahad Samar, Pratima and Gaurav Bhatia , Laila Marker, Natasha Chib, Harsha Hiramanek Rahul And Malini Arkeker, Chetan Jaikishen, Indira Aswani, Surily Goel, Champa Doshi, Turkish Consul General Ceylan Ozen and  Elisabetta & Gaimpaolo Cutillo amongst others.

Of late, Sammeer Sheth and Narendra Kumar Ahmed, hosted an evening at Olive, Mahalaxmi, Mumbai, to celebrate their store’s inclusion in a leading US magazine’s Big Black Book of Fashion’s 56 Top Men’s stores in the world.

The evening witnessed the glitterati and chaterratti of the tinsel town relishing a selection of delectable finger food based on the Barbecue and Beer theme at the surrealistic setting of the venue while congratulating the duo for their fabulous achievement.

After New York all eyes seeking for fashionably-charged delight are set on London now as the 5-day London Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2013 is painting the city with different forms and hues.

With 56 catwalk shows and 20 presentations bringing the best of the British talent to the fore, the event screams of eclecticism. Over the past three days the likes of Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood, Mulberry, Mary Katranzou, Matthew Williamson, Jonathan Saunders, Richard Nicoll and Nicole Farhi, along with Rihanna have had showcased their collections.

Designer Paul Smith played with bright colors for Autumn Winter 2013. The sleek masculine silhouettes in orange, purple and red made a bold statement while Vivienne Westwood Red Label’s latest collection unfolded with drama galore featuring pencil dresses, androgynous suits and tailored trousers in various prints, textures and colors.

The Autumn Winter 2013 by Mary Katrantzou featured many prints influenced by the Far East. The Eastern-inspired designs included printed and textured midi dresses, androgynous suits, pencil skirts and gown in metallic hues. Mulberry kept the silhouettes fitted featuring soft leather capes teamed up with pleated leather skirts and tweed coats over cropped trousers. 

On the Day 3 of the fashion week Rihanna unveiled her River Island Collection featuring monochrome dresses with thigh high slits, midriff baring tops, cropped jersey sweaters and swimwear worn as eveningwear.

Lately, the storied sportswear label Lacoste, presented its Fall Winter 2013 collection at the recently concluded New York Fashion Week, exploring the infinite possibilities of pique, its iconic material.

The look of the collection is nonchalant with essential volumes, rounded, enveloping the body to better emphasize it. The fabrics used are petit pique in all its disguises, double-faced contrasts between knits, cotton canvas, double-faced wool, boiled wool and mohair in an intense color palette of faux primary colors – blue, green and bright orange, along with whites, greys and dark greens.

A pique polo shirt with a high collar stand; large sweaters and knit dresses with turtlenecks changing into hoods; sweatshirts and jackets treated like armor; and a tight knee-length polo dress are few of the highlights of the collection.

The accessories include a grained leather tote with striped fabric straps, specially treated footwear, striped astronaut’s gloves and balaclavas.
