The storied British brand Burberry of late showcased its Burberry Prorsum Womenswear Autumn/Winter 2013 collection at London Fashion Week, inspired by Burberry classics, sixties beauty Christine Keeler, and featuring an iconic Burberry colour palette.

The collection titled, ‘Trench Kisses’ featured trench coats, cabans, chesterfields, topcoats, regimental greatcoats, column dresses, shell dresses and cropped trousers done in innovative and elevated fabrics including cotton gabardine, glossy cashmere, glossy calfskin and laminated python print leather. The color palette was comprised of white, camel, oxblood, red, black and gold. 
The accessories completing the collection included crush bags, kitten wedges, animal print sunglasses and gold band belts.




 

Of late, designer duo Ashima and Leena hosted a soiree to celebrate the launch of their new flagship store at DLF Emporio in New Delhi. 

The 1000 square feet space brings back the charm of Old Delhi, recreating the magical past of the city through opulent textures and the architectural grandeur of its spatial design. The quiet trickle of fountain water; the acoustic sounds of mystic Sufi’s; royal red carnations that once floated in perfumed hamams; the mystery of labyrinthine streets leading to the quaint dressing rooms of princesses; and the secrets and scents hidden in the delicate folds of a garment, the myriad reflections of antique mirrors, are the highlights of the store.

Spotted at the event were crème de la crème of Delhi society including Kalyani Saha, Rumi Dev, Suneet Varma, Zarine Khan, Sophia Azad, Anurag Varma, Sujata Assomull Sippy, Aman Nath & Francis Wacziarg, Nalini Singh, Kusum Sawhney, Gita & Ashok Chopra, Sanjay & Sheena Sharma, AD & Sabina Singh amongst others.
 
At the recently concluded India Design ID 2013, Sussanne Roshan showcased a variety of products from her store "The Charcoal Project". The interiors of the exhibit stall represented a very strong concept of industrial masculine metropolitan and the feminine lines of mysterious European Renaissance, a reflection of the underlying theme of ‘The Charcoal Project’.

A wide spectrum of furnishings ranging from French antique furniture, home accessories, dinnerware, table linen, crockery, soft furnishings, installations, artifacts, and limited edition photo-art and accent pieces were exhibited at ‘The Charcoal Project’ stall at India Design ID 2013.

Products showcased were from the exclusive lines by designers such as Andrew Martin, Abu Jani – Sandeep Khosla, and Gauri Khan, as well as an eclectic line of fine furniture designed by Sussanne herself.

Every aspect of the exhibit was emblematic of the Sussanne Roshan’s design aesthetic, with an attention to detail through the settings at the exhibit, from the dinner table to the living area, even the ceiling was adorned with rose, bunny and skeleton motifs, the insignia for Sussanne Roshan’s latest prêt collection.  
 
Lately, Sahachari Foundation announced the third edition of Design One in a formal ceremony at The Lodhi, New Delhi over high tea. The two-day couture extravaganza will be open for public on February 27 and 28, 2013 at The Lodhi in New Delhi.

This year Design One – the initiative that brings together established and upcoming designers with a unique offering of distinct, carefully selected fashion and accessories – has designers like Shivan and Narresh donating a specially designed Mastectomy blouse for All for breast cancer victims to the Women’s Cancer Initiative – Tata Memorial Hospital. Besides, there is Arti Shetty of All Cargo for Sahachari Foundation and Srimant Yashodhara Raje Scindia, MP Lok Sabha, who have handed over the cars to Sakha Cabs for Women, a service provided by the Sakha Consulting Wings Pvt. Ltd.
Speaking on the occasion, Amruda Nair, Spokesperson Sahachari Foundation said, “The third edition of Design One in New Delhi promises to be as exciting if not more than as the last edition. This year to show our support to women’s rights, the Foundation is donating a car to Sakha Cabs for Women. We chose Sakha Consulting Wings because of their work with women and their endeavor to ensure safe transport for women.”

The event was attended by the crème de la crème of the Capital including Minu Bakhsi, Sweety Burman, Nina Pillai, Tania Ahuja, Sunita Mathur, Atsu Sekhose, Pernia Quereshi, Roshini & Parul Vadera and Sujata Assomull amongst others.

After painting the city of Mumbai with myriad of figurines and hues, the second chapter in the Wallbook series, Delhi Wallbook is all set to unfold at the Delhi University North Campus on February 24, 2013.

An initiative by Brand Promotions India Pvt Ltd in association with Tata Housing to bring professional and amateur artists on one platform to create an expression for a better tomorrow, Delhi Wallbook will see more than 500 artists putting up their expressions on more than 1 km long stretch outside the Delhi University wall with the theme – Design the Change.

The competition will start at 8am and would go on till 1pm where the participants will be provided with basic colours to paint and will also be allocated a section of wall on registration. The activity will be judged by eminent people from the Industry.  

Expressing his views on the event, Sunil Kutty Menon, founder Delhi Wallbook said, “We firmly believe Art as a tool and a freedom of expression will help Design the Change for the betterment of society plagued with social evils. It would also awaken the responsible caretakers of the society by reminding them time and again their deliverables whenever they cross the Delhi University.”



O Layla, an initiative in sustainable fashion by fashion stylist Ritu Kumar, opens a new store at Mehar Chand Market, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

The unconventional space that reflects the brand’s belief in ethical sourcing and sustainable fashion offers edgy, quirky and eclectic range of fashion, accessories and lifestyle products for both men and women.

Painted by traditional pattachitra artists from Odisha, the mango-yellow walls of the new store are adorned with intricate and admiring mythological designs that reinforce the brand’s commitment towards re-inventing traditional arts. 

The brand is currently showcasing its Spring/Summer 2013 collection which is a curated mix of stylish products that range from chic summer cotton dresses, tie-dye tunics, t-shirts, maxis, crochet jewellery to stunning divided skirts with exquisite village embroidery.






 
The vibrancy and quirkiness of design sensibility of Anupama Dayal came alive at India Design Forum, where the designer exhibited a tree – symbolizing her organic philosophy.

The event which recently culminated in the city of Delhi had the designer showcasing the tree draped in especially printed textile featuring motifs of Peepul leaves and butterflies. The colors used were intensely saturated bright ones and the adornment came in the form of gypsy inspired trims and baubles created by the women of a village where the designer runs a small empowerment programme. 

The hi-street fashion brand Tommy Hilfiger announced the opening of its West Coast flagship, located at the corner of Robertson and Beverly Boulevards in Los Angeles.

In honor of the new flagship opening, The Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation also announced its partnership with P.S. Arts – the only artists-in-residence program in Southern and Central California providing weekly, yearlong arts education programs integrated into the regular school day – to endow and develop a multi-year arts education curriculum in two schools in the Los Angeles school district, Walgrove Elementary School and Grand View Elementary.

And to celebrate both the brand in Los Angeles and its P.S. Arts collaboration, Tommy Hilfiger hosted a two-tiered event – a mix of fashion influencers and Los Angeles notables joining the designer for cocktails at the expansive new Robertson Boulevard flagship. The highlight of the evening was a surprise performance by Guns N’ Roses with vocalist Axl Rose. 

About the opening of the brand’s new store in Los Angeles, Tommy Hilfiger said, ““I love LA. The city is an iconic U.S. destination and the new West Coast flagship celebrates the brand’s long history of involvement and collaboration in art and entertainment,”
