Touted as Asia’s first-ever jewellery week, the five-day long event opened with a host of celebrities walking in the jewels by Gitanjali Gems to only be followed by beautifully crafted Polki Jadau kundan and diamond ranges by Laxmi Jewels. The antique kundan jewellery with flat line kundan collars, maang tikas and Cleopatra neckpiece came as a stunner.
The Day 1 gradually mellowed with some of the stupendous pieces from the brands like Dwarkadas Chandumal, Gehna Jewellers, Amrapali Jewels, Dynamic International and Ganjam. On offer were pendants, necklaces and chokers in rose cut and champagne colored diamonds matched with emeralds, polkis and south sea pearls by Gehna Jewellers whereas the century old Ganjam brand concluded the day with slim choker, large pendant with colored stones, gleaming tiara, globe and starburst rings.
The dazzle of the jewellery week only got brighter on the Day 2 as Tanvi Garg, Dipti Amisha, Jewels by Preeti, Vijay Golecha, Agni Jewels and Anmol Jewellers amongst others showcased. Inspired by the tribal art and art deco eras, Tanvi’s collection combined the motifs of India and Arabia using silver, semi-precious gems, uncut diamonds, pearls and meenakari, along with leather, thread and wood creating ample drama on the ramp.
The “Rendezvous” collection by Agni Jewels showed gold chains with oval pendants besides floral collage of colored diamonds tied with a black satin ribbon around the neck and the giant temple pendant on an almost invisible gold chain. On similar glittering notes, Vijay Golecha showcased a collection for men and women featuring emeralds and rubies splashed brooches for men and raani haars, chandelier earrings and maang tikkas for women.
Similarly stunning was the collection by Anmol Jewellers featuring gold and pearl strands, emerald chains with ruby drops, pendants that swung at the end of rows of pearls, some impressive brooches and magnificent giant ruby necklaces.
