Dorchester Fashion IndulgenceA portfolio of some of the world’s foremost luxury hotels in Europe and the US, Dorchester Collection recently announced the names of the shortlisted designers for 2012 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize.

The shortlisted designers and labels – Calla, IRM Design, Les Garcons Paris, Augustin Teboul and Quentin Veron have been invited to showcase their designs on October 16 at a catwalk to be held at Hotel Plaza Athenee in front of an esteemed panel of judges.

The judges including few of the illustrious names from fashion will seek to award one of the five designers who demonstrate an original aesthetic flair, a capability for future critical distinction and commercial success. The winner will be awarded a prize of €30,000 plus a stayDorchester Fashion Indulgence during spring Fashion Week 2013 at a Dorchester Collection property in either Paris or Milan.

Apart from this fashion prize, the company always has had a strong connection with fashion. In near future, one of its premier hotels, The Dorchester, London will see British fashion talent Teatum Jones presenting Autumn Winter 2012 collection with exclusive fashion tea during the London Fashion Week on September 18, 2012.

The much hyped collection to be showcased will explore the sensationalistic and menacing side of The Grimm’s fairy tales and Hollywood crime scene photography about 1940s, painting scenes of oversized, yet utterly magical landscapes. Dark olive two-tone greens shimmer against electric pink lurex tweeds, fluorescent limes and magical magenta pinks within a refined, elegant and ultra-feminine silhouette will rule the collection.   

Roma Narsinghani for LFW WF12Seeking inspiration from the poem ‘Dream Catcher’ designer Roma Narsinghani is all set to unravel her design philosophy of ‘God is in details’ with her Winter Festive 2012 collection to be showcased at Lakme Fashion Week.

The collection is comprised of anti-fit asymmetrical functional silhouettes graced by intricate prints and embroideries. The full length pleated dresses, boleros, skirts, pleated pants and jackets form the collection.

The color palette is comprised of earthy hues like brown, grey, black, green and white.

Pria Enthralls PuneIt’s the showcasing of the latest collection of designer Pria Kataaria Puri at Hotel Oakwood Premier in Pune which took the city by storm.

The modern compilation of the designer at Sade Boutique presented at the fashion show took its inspiration from the rich Persian culture and history with quirkiness of punk-age. Over the knee dresses, flowy lounge gowns in fruit neon colors, kaftans and harem pants in fabrics like silk chiffons, crepes and silk lycra were showcased. Colour pattern of the series came as a well-defined blend of bright shades from tangerine oranges, sunshine yellow to strawberry reds and apple greens.

About her show in Pune Pria said, “It’s a pleasure to showcase my collection in this beautiful neighborhood of Mumbai. With her support, I hope to achieve a new benchmark in the fashion race of this fast growing fashion conscious city. These vivacious ladies will be dressed in ensembles which are so young along with being lively and inspired by nature and goodness of people.”

When it comes to Tarun Tahiliani then things are meant to be larger-than-life. And this very grandeur and opulence could be seen at his upcoming Couture Exposition 2012 to be held in Delhi and Mumbai where the designer will showcase his exquisite bridal couture collection in a Jewel Box – a design marvel in cutting-edge glass.

More than just a design marvel in glass, the exhibit area, created by AIS Glasxperts is an ode to the possibilities of this most versatile of materials. A cuboid of glass 14 feet in height, almost the height of a double-storey glass building, the ‘Jewel Box’ is envisioned to add further embellishment and complement Tarun Tahiliani’s couture creations to be showcased within.

About the design of Jewel Box Tarun Tahiliani says, “The Glasxperts team will add a new dimension to my designs by providing a unique, avant-garde setting. We have been working closely with Mr. Sumant Jayakrishnan, India’s premier installation artist who has created the set – a modern day glass jewel box that’s being specially designed and will be fabricated tirelessly on – site just days before the exposition.”

Pria for CappuccinoThe kaftan queen of India and a renowned fashion designer internationally, Pria Kataaria Puri has been announced as the brand ambassador for the jewellery brand Cappuccino Collection.

The name synonymous with things elegant, sparkling and glamorous Pria comes to define the brand concept of Cappuccino Collection of Champagne Diamond Jewellery. About her association with the jewellery brand, Pria says, “I am elated about Cappuccino Collection’s decision to bring me on as a Brand Ambassador. This gives me further inspiration to continue creating unique designs and explore newer categories. I will try my level best to uphold the respect bestowed upon me.”

Made up of the local waste materials which are the everyday dose for our community garbage, the collection’s approach is to contribute in fight against global warming and is comprised of coiling black and white cords which show the “end of the world”. The luminous colours like hot pink and tomato red with black and white symbolizes the futuristic approach to the new era.

One of the greatest puzzles in the world with figures sparking visually inclined people through their form, liveliness and striking simplicity, ‘Tangram’ inspires designer Abhishek Dutta to come up his Winter Festive 2012 collection at forthcoming Lakme Fashion Week.

Imprinting the same through fashion the collection is ruled by the morphing of shapes forms and dimensions, play between the darkness and lightness and mixing of form-fitted with voluminous. The elaborate textures of thread work, applique of fabric and leather, laser cut designs, sharp architectural panels, mix and match of fabric with leather manipulated to form various long and short jackets for both men and women and high waited trousers are few of the highlights of the collection.

The color palette is comprised of earthy brown, neutral black and white, electric blue, purple and canary yellow.

Felix Bendish for LFW W/F 12For the first time at Lakme Fashion Week designer Felix Bendish is all set to enthrall Mumbai through his collection inspired from French artist Henri Matisse.

The amalgamation of art and fashion, the collection titled, ‘Flow’ will witness creative dramatic garments along with quirky accessories. Inspired by the fluidity of detailed palette and lines played in the composition of Matisse, the designer celebrates a new era of fashion infused with luxurious dosage of graceful art.

Banking on his forte of hand embroidery, the designer has used different embroidery techniques and signature textures to style his collection featuring statement neck-pieces, elaborate brooches along with cocktail head bands and sleek evening clutches. The highlight of the collection is the use of Swarovski elements in the form of underline detailing.
