Khem for LFW WF12Bringing ‘Dark Romance’ on the ramp of Lakme Fashion Week, Khem’s latest collection comes as a vivid, sensual and decadent one.

The collection to be showcased in the fashion week brings back the romantic spirit of French baroque with dark clothes and modest demeanor. The mood is dark with rich Jacquards, plush velvets and a palette revolving around colors like Blood Red, Plum, Bottle Green, Royal Blue, and Espresso. The dresses in sheer feature snag fitted sleeves and artfully placed scrolls of silk and velvet on the bodice.

The collection is comprised of a series of dramatic peek-a-boo dresses in Jewel-embellished tulle which are light despite the resplendence of all its metal wire embroidery. The idea of modest luxury carries over into full-length dresses with velvet appliqués of flowers and leaves in a pattern, which is inspired by William Morris’ Tree of Life

Deepika Govind for LFW WF12Continuing her unwavering passion to promote the traditional hand-woven textiles of India, designer Deepika Govind is all set to present her Winter Festive 2012 Collection ‘Pop Patola’, on Indian Textile Day at Lakme Fashion Week.

A tribute to the extraordinary weaving tradition of the Patola from Patan, Gujarat the collection comes to life with a tongue-in-cheek Pop Art interpretation. The lively happy effervescent collection with one foot in the mould of tradition, and the other firmly rooted in the present, is created out of the vibrant woven Patola fabrics.

Besides the variety of Patolas comprising both single & double ikat, the collection also uses pure silks and satin silks in color palette dominated by saturated brights like dandelion, harvest pumpkin, hyacinth, rose violet, bluebird and indigo.

Anushka Khanna for LFW WF12For the upcoming Winter Festive 2012 edition of Lakme Fashion Week designer Anushka Khanna brings to the fore her debut collection titled, ‘Floral Fragments’, focusing on broken flowers and language associated with them.

With a concept of a floral mosaic, the collection looks at finding beauty in disintegration and bringing harmony to broken elements. The show will start with magnified and distorted floral prints; moves into mosaic-like flowers with delicate sequins and ends with fresh blooms created in thread work and embellishments.

The young and spirited collection features fluid silhouettes, print on print, intricate surface texturing, sheer elements, layering and bright bursts of color.

Karishma Shahani for LFW WF12The beauteous region of the Silk Route inspires designer Karishma Shahani to come up with a collection titled, ‘Chauraha’ for forthcoming Lakme Fashion Week.

The collection meets on this cross road where things coincide from different spheres, genders, ideologies, the oldest known cultural exchange, thus witnesses the influences from the tribes and arts of the region.
