A collection inspired by a love story so strong, so truthful and so heavenly. It gave me an insight to love which is eternal. Love always puts across a challenge to its believers, and sometimes the challenge is timeless. This short story of undying love inspired me to make this collection, a tribute to all those who believe in eternal love, says Debarun.

The fabric used is cotton kora in its natural crème tone, with appliqué of gold to give the feeling of opulence and chaste. Motifs are mainly floral which denotes romance in its purest form. I have alternately played with straight parallel lines which brings the harsh reality of the unforgiving world around us.

All the silhouette’s are Indian. An emphasis on long kurta’s is through out with pleated draw string pants, sarees & A-line lehenga’s & mens wear with long kurta’s, stitched dhotis, sleeve less jackets and side box pleated trousers.

Anita Dongre, in association with Shop for Change, launched her GRASSROOT spring summer collection at her store at The Gallery on M. G. Road, New Delhi.  Anita is a pioneer in the Shop for Change Fair Trade movement in India.  Since incorporating Shop for Change certified cotton into her designs in 2010, Anita has helped benefit the 3,000 farmers from Chetna Organic Farmers Association in Andhra Pradesh and Orissa.   This unique collection, created with fair trade organic cotton, is an ode to feminine beauty of today’s urban woman; the collection continues the narrative of Anita’s quest to achieve a harmonious balance between fashion and sustainability.

The collection is inspired from the 1950s look, created in fair trade organic cotton, and brings forth some of the most stylish and feminine dresses, contemporized to give a sensuous feel with great emphasis on natural waistlines and sexy backs.  Beautiful pastel shades of pink and green, along with classic whites and pretty floral prints make this collection enormously desirable. Breaking the myth that eco-friendly clothes are low on style, simple and unglamorous, with GRASSROOT Anita goes right ahead to show the fashion world that style, glamour, fashion and environment can go hand in hand and create a new world of fashionistas who not only intend to look good but also feel good.

Seth Petchers, CEO-Shop for Change Fair Trade adds, “The trend-conscious know that on runways world over, fashion and fairness increasingly go hand in hand.  The Shop for Change Mark helps consumers choose designs that represent their values.  With the extension of Shop for Change Fair Trade certified cotton into yet another of her labels, Anita continues to deliver a great look to her customers along with a fairer deal for farmers that ensures they can care for their families and the environment.”

Anand Kabra’s collection, Sleek: The New Mystique will showcase collections for the five sensational hair looks by Lakmé Studio. These looks will integrate with Anand Kabra’s vision of the modern Indian woman and will weave a beautiful story around five characteristics that define a woman today.

Speaking on the collaboration, designer Anand Kabra says, “One word that has unceasingly described Indian women, is the word Mystique. A sense of mystery, a magnetism that emanates from within. That mystique has always found outward expression in what she wears and how she wears it. Traditionally this allure was found in the casual drape of a woman’s saree and silky lustrous hair. While she may have changed with time and discovered new ways of expressing her multifarious personalities, what has not changed is the belief that a woman’s magnificence is best reflected in silky, shiny hair. Sleek hair is not just about demureness . It  represents so many moods – elegance, sensuality, sophistication, charisma and chutzpah! It is these diverse  moods and personalities that I will attempt to capture in my collection for Lakme Studio Sleek, the New Mystique show. It is an inspiring yet challenging concept and will give me a great chance to showcase versatility in my art.”

Trilogy in Mumbai, co-owned by The Tham Brothers – Ryan and Keenan Tham, has evolved as the new night destination and has been buzzing ever since its launch with high fashion and lifestyle shows. ARTIC, the pure Italian Luxury Vodka, got launched at this venue along with a glamorous fashion extravaganza, showcased by fashion designer Nandita Mahtani.

It was a casual chic, fun resort wear collection, keeping in sync with the ambiance and the mood of the audience. The guests included quite a few big names from Bollywood and the fashion industry, like – Arjun Rampal, Mehr Jessia, Sussanne Roshan, Dino Morea, Lisa Hayden, Siddhartha Mallaya, Sophie Choudhry, Aki Narula, Anuj Sharma and many more.

Nandita made her signature style stand out throughout this special collection. The cuts and the silhouettes were sleek and flirty with asymmetrical sleeves, necklines and hemlines doing the rounds. All the outfits were short numbers except a long jumpsuit and a maxi dress as an alternative option. There were kaftan dresses, baggy tops, off shoulder attires, halters and one shoulder ensembles and smart hot pants, that set the ramp on fire. The colour palette was kept equally exciting by opting for the electric blues, matt finish blacks, subtle chromes, whites, coral and peach. The bling element was interesting as there was a variety to be seen from metallic plates to little sequins dotting the clothes and forming interesting patterns.

Models such as Candice Pinto, Aanchal Kumar, Deepti Gujral, Shonal Rawat and the likes walked down the sparkling red stair way that doubled up for the fun runway. The showstopper seemed to be the larger than life Artic Vodka bottle in pristine white, as the models posed with it at the end of the show.

Black eyes and black hair, she is 5 ft. 7 inches tall. This 22 year old beauty Ushoshi Sengupta was crowned the first I AM SHE – Miss Universe India 2010. The perfect idol of beauty with brains Ushoshi is a very brilliant student and holds a Bachelors Degree in Humanities from St. Xavier’s College. The ravishing beauty from Bengal gets cozy and spills the beans as fashionfad.in get in conversation with the curly hairs and the mrignayans.

Tell us briefly about your formative years and academics?
I am an Airforce kid. My growing up was in different parts of the country. I was born in New Delhi than travelled to Gujarat and then to Kolkata. I studied at the Kendriya Vidyalaya and then graduated from St. Xaviers College. I also hold a diploma in hospitality and travel management. Growing up in a Defence background was the biggest learning experience for me. Watching people from different cultures, different states really helped me in growing my personality.

How was your experience at Miss Universe 2010 contest?
Miss universe 2010 was so far the best experience of my life. Very few women in this universe get this opportunity and I’m very thankfull to god that I AM one of them. Well as they say it’s the celebration of “universal beauty”. Women from different parts of the world and there beauty is different everywhere….black skin, brown skin, white skin, black hair, brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyes…..and everybody is competing to get honour for her country. I have made some lifelong friends there…it’s a great feeling to know that u know somebody in each country of this world…!! ?

So now what are your further plans? Is Bollywood in pipeline?
I love films….I will definitely do films soon….but as of now I think I have a lot more to explore as a model…..!!

How you bumped into your first assignment? How it changed your life?
I won an inter college model hunt. After that I got my first fashion show which was the graduating show for one design school…I was noticed by a makeup artist Nabin Das from Kolkata. He helped me get through Sananda Tilottama–the biggest beauty pageant in east where I was trained by Noyonika Chatterjee. Since then I never really looked back.

What did you aspire to become as kid?
It brings a secret smile on my face. As a kid and always I wanted to become Sushmita Sen, acting and modeling has always been my passion.

Where do you see yourself in this cut throat competitive industry? What’s your success mantra?
I have always been very true to myself. I believe if you are talented and hardworking you will be making the cut. My success mantra has been do what you love doing whether it’s a 9 to 5 job or being in the limelight you will only succeed if you are happy and satisfied with your work.

What do you love and hate most about modeling?
I love the limelight the fact that people want to know what you wear, what you eat,…..looking like a million dollar when on the runway travelling to the best of the places….I love everything about my profession……what I hate is that a lot of fake people take advantage of young girls from small cities by selling them the dream of making it big in modeling. Which is sad but true…!!

What’s your take on drug abuse and suicides which are so prevalent in the entertainment industry?
Not only in the entertainment industry it’s prevalent everywhere whether it’s corporate, hospitality or any other industry. Since our industry is always in the limelight people notice this more here. I think it’s up to the individual how you deal with it. No one can force u to do anything; you always do it with your own willingness.

Which designers have you worked with nationally and internationally? Whom do you find appealing your aesthetic senses most?
I have worked with a lot of designers from Kolkata – Kiran Uttam Ghosh, Anamika Khanna, Dev r Nil, Eeina Aluwaliah, Babita Malkhani, Rajat Tangri , Abhishek Dutta, Geisha Designs, Malini Ramani and many more.
Internationally I have worked with Sherry Hill and Tala Rassi during MU 2010 .  My fav is Malini Ramani……she is someone whose clothes appeal to me the most..!!

Which other projects have you graced with your presence? Any big project in the pipeline?
There are few things coming up which I can’t really talk about now……I have walked for a lot of fashion weeks. And shot for a lot designers too. I was the face of Kolkata Fashion Week. And then I did my debut at Chennai International Fashion Week…I walked for Lakme this season for Rajat Tangri and Eeina Aluwaliah.

How is Ushoshi as a person? What does she to do when not modeling?
My friends will vouch for this one. I am fun loving I love to party with my friends. Go for movies cry when Shah Rukh Khan is dying or blush when Ranbir Kapoor is towel dancing…hahahaha…..late night drives, eating at dhaba’s….I am everything a 22yrs old should be…!! If I am not modeling I am always around my friends and family. My dad is my best friend so I spend a lot of time discussing about my career plans…my crushes…and a lot of fun stuff with him….!!:)

Where do you see yourself 10 years down the line?
Doing good films…!!!

Any social cause you are associated with?
I work for ANI foundation which is under the “I am” foundation and one of my responsibilities as Miss Universe India to work for them.

Which is the most cherished moment in your modeling career?
I think when I won I AM SHE –miss universe India 2010.!!

What’s your beauty and fitness regime?
I work out every alternate day…I am blessed with a thin waistline. My beauty regime includes sleeping at least 7-8 hrs. I guess that covers up 80%of the task and eating healthy. I drink two glasses of vegetable juice every day.

What is your idea of an ideal date?
My perfect date would be by a beach side just spending some quality lazy time with my boyfriend….good food…good wine…and the perfect music to set up the  mood…..Imay just go dancing on the beach side with my guy…..hahahaha…!!

What’s your style statement?
I never really cared how I dress up till I won ‘I am She’ and I saw how many people actually keep an eye on what I wear…!!
I love to dress up casual my skinny jeans t-shirts are my favorites… but when I am out partying with my friend I love dressing up……my fav in the wardrobe is this gold bling one shoulder dress by Rajat Tangri !

Anupama Dayal’s is all geared up to showcase her Summer/Resort on 14th March at the upcoming LFW. Her collection titled Short Stories by Anupamaa is inspired by the 6 genres of personality- chic, rock, bohemian, classic, retro and ethnic.

Her collection is a translation of each genre of personality into a story. The stories can be enjoyed individually or part of a whole just like our multi textured, often at conflict personalities.

Dizzily optimistic colors and painterly textures play gleeful in this range. Bold color blocking techniques are prominent. Fabrics are translucent and fluid in chiffons, chandleries, georgettes, crepe de chines and some twill silks. The vision has been garments look whipped up from weightless silk. The collection houses feather light long dresses, layered midi length dresses, slouchy wide trousers, long eclectically slit skirts, long shirts and more.
