Inconspicuously hidden in the outer circle of Connaught Place this new Side Wok is more regal than its other locations, it evocates a full evening experience, from a bar to table and then table to lounge.

Romil and Rajneesh Malik, the couple behind the restaurant chain had strong motivations behind the new Side Wok; they wanted to make sure that one could enjoy in the feeling of unwinding within the heart of New Delhi, whilst being surrounded by the heritage and the hustle and bustle of Connaught place.

At Side Wok the voyage can go anywhere one likes it too and this branch has retained its popular dishes from original menu whilst adding on some new exciting ones.

First off, one should introduce their palette with a light Chinese Chachoy exotic salad, or Thai Som Tum or Yam Samrot Je. And if you’re not that adventurous, switch your liquids to one of the 11 soups from Malaysia, Indonesia Thailand, China and Japan. The Seafood bean curd soup is a Side Wok special with its sumptuous thick texture and subtle ginger hints is awesome and chefs personal recommendation of burnt garlic soup.

Explore Side Woks unique twists; try the whimsical Seafood Asparagus, the rich in texture Chives and Rice Flour dumplings or pair the Pakchoy Rice Flour with the White Cabbage with Water Chestnut dumplings for a complimenting savory delight.

Our next stop on this journey is that of a main course, and the endless options vary for the discerning gourmand. Let your tongue taste the magic of modern Asia, with minced chicken with haricot beans and preserved vegetables. There is an endless list for vegetarians not to forget their Vietnamese vegetable curry cooked in coconut cream and yellow curry powder but one should balance their ravenous tendencies with the delectable pineapple fried rice, a must try!

An essential asset of this trip is the dessert, the blue berry cheese cake with ice cream. And the rest is up to the whims of your palette, again the selection here is not an issue. Side wok will impeccably serve you, will satisfy the gastronome in you and all within an exciting space.

Learning to Fly, a Non-Profit Organization for the empowerment of women, established by Ramola Bachchan and Geetanjali Anand, in association with Goenka Jewels organized its first ever fund raiser at Cibo.

This fund-raiser comprised a jewellery fashion show cum auction of select jewellery with parts of proceeds being donated to Learning to Fly for its philanthropic activities. Adding to the sparkle of the evening was the stunning CERES jewellery from Goenka Diamonds and Jewels. CERES is a designer collection of an exquisite range of finest diamond and solitaire jewellery, which redefines luxury. The distinguishing feature of CERES is that each piece is lavishly crafted and intricately carved in a way that they are perfect heirlooms that can be can be handed over generations.

Highlighting the objective of Learning to Fly Ramola Bachchan said, “Our aim is to benefit women across the financial and social strata of society and help as well as encourage them to find and fulfill their true potential.”

Eminent persons from the fashion, political and corporate world attended the event. Kabir Bedi and Pooja Bedi, the gracious hosts for the event captivated the audience with their witty repartee.

The final year students of B. Sc Fashion design department of SNDT – Juhu, headed by Jinal Sangani, in association with The Textile Association (India), showcased their graduating fashion show at St Andrews auditorium in Mumbai. Staging the best of their creativity, the girls put forward their collections from various walks of life. So the Indian rail journey captured in the Metro Motive sequence, the mind game of chess portrayed as the Royal Gambit, taking a cue from the gypsies of Spain – Gitandia, the fun collection Neon Vegas ideal for clubbing and many more were unveiled under one roof.

The gamut of colours that were spotted across the collections were inspired by the bright spring palette of greens, yellows, orange and fuchsia pinks. There were shades of yellow, fawn and peach thrown in here and there. The bling element was kept very subtle and sleek. The classiness was defined by the layering and volumes. The silhouettes however had contemporary cuts and fits in the overall styling element. The drapes were simple yet elegant with not too much of texturing details. The textiles varied from velvet to satin to silk, cotton and organza which were often mixed and matched to create the uniqueness.

What came across as pure professionalism among these budding design talents is the fact that they put forward a complete look not only through their attires but also by teaming them up with suitable accessories like clutch purses, sling bags, laptop cases, hats and more. The jewellery quotient was kept minimal to focus more on the clothes. The Neon Vegas collection even had tiny glow bulbs arranged in the shape of cute little bow headgears on the models.

Each of the 10 sequences had women’s wear mostly, with a few options for menswear. Metro Motive, which won the award for the most commercially viable collection spread out a host of options for the fashion conscious men out there. From slim fit business suits to Nehru coats and collared jackets to double buttoned mackintosh, to capris, there was a mix and match of formal and casualwear. Celebrating womanhood in the form of pure handloom drapes, it was the Sirisiti collection that stole the show and won the Best Jury award finally.
