A scintillating fashion show by Reshma and Riyaz Gangzi of LIBAS which had make up and hair products by Belgian Cosmetic giant Corona professional was held to celebrate the 16 years of couture and fine fashion designing for the couple and LIBAS with style and panache.

The fun filled evening with heady cocktails and bites marked designer Reshma Gangji’s debut line. Models Mansi Scott and Aalim Hakim walked the ramp to showcase the stunning cocktail and lounge line for this year’s festive season. Erstwhile model Bunty Grewal choreographed the show which saw the counsul generals of Belgium and France cheering from the front row. The gracious hosts, couple Reshma and Riyaz mingled with the crowd and made sure everyone was having a superb time.



Viren Shah, Sushil and Falguni Jhaveri of Fuel, Actor Sonu Sood and Sajid music director of current Dabaang fame, Siddharth Kanan, Munisha Kotwani, Arya Bannerji, Singer Shibani Kashyap looking hot in red, Zulfi, Pravin Sirohi, Shahwar Ali, and Sanober Kabir added the glam quotient to a night of revelry with a French flavor even as the French guests savored Indian hospitality!

The most awaited Commonwealth Games begin with a big bang. Geoffery’s and Shibani Kashyap co-hosted an evening to flag off the special Common Wealth Carnival to mark the opening of the game fever. A mesmerizing performance by the most soulful singer Shibani Kashyap set the ambience at Geoffrey’s, restaurant at Select City Walk.

The alluring singer performed the Commonwealth song which is dedicated to the mascot Shera. Shibani performed this song along with Vikramjeet Sahney on the 3rd of Oct at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium. This song is about the spirit of the game as it is dedicated to the mascot shera.

To glamorize the occasion were present some of the who’s who of Delhi glam fraternity like Rahul Chandra & Nida Mahmood, Ramola Bachchan, Ramneek Paintal, Nitin Bal Chauhan, Joy Mitra, Samant Chauhan, Naseer Abdullah, Jai & Parvesh and many more.

The National Karate Champion, Karan Romey recently, struck wonder in many hearts when he landed on the ramp at the Van Heusen India Mens Week. Tall, tough and charming, Romey (the sobriquet, he loves) has that effortless grace which differentiates him from the crowd of models. Born and brought up in Punjab, Romey is a family man, who believes that the ubiquitous God and good food are worth living life by and for respectively.

So, here we interacted with spirited and spunky, Karan Romey, who spoke in length about his preferences, inspirations, aspirations and achievements.    

Tell us briefly about your early life, family and academics?
I was born and brought up in Jalandhar in Punjab. I finished my schooling from Army Public school, Jalandhar, and went on to do my graduation from Lyallpur Khalsa College. I have a small and loving family which consists of my father, mother, a sister and an elder brother, who is a national level football player.

How you bumped into your first assignment?
A close friend of mine was directing a music video for the well known singer, Jaspinder Narula, and he thought I would fit in the role. I managed to work in it and since then I am here chasing my passions.

What did you aspire to become as kid?
Since my childhood, I always wanted do big in karate. I was very much passionate about being a renowned karate player which I worked hard for and it paid off too. I represented India Internationally at the Karate world cup held in Cyprus. Later, I was declared the National karate Champion in 2007.

Which shows (designers) and commercials have you graced with your presence?
To name a few, I have had walked for the likes of Rohit Bal, Ashish N Soni, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna and many more. Besides ramp, I have shot the TV commercials for Virgin Mobiles, Indigo Airlines and Manforce condoms.

Your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement so far is being a National Karate Champion and walking at the Van Heusen Men’s Fashion week.

What do you think of bollywood as a career option?
Sure, if I get a good offer. At the moment, I want to concentrate on modeling and it’s only after a couple of years, I see myself better prepared for bollywood.

When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing?
Working Out.

What has been most touching moment of your life?
Ummm….when I got my first pay check!

What is fashion for you?
An Integral part of my life.

Your icon/ role model in life?
My brother and Rocky .S.

Your fitness regime?
I am an Eggitarian, therefore mostly tofu, egg whites and green vegetables constitute my daily meal. I believe in a good workout session everyday, which helps in healthy growth of mind, body and soul. Besides, I feel that it is the oodles of positive energy which makes you stand apart from the rest.

Internationally acclaimed Australian designer Collette Dinnigan, showcased her Printemps Ete 2011 collection ‘Cirque d’ Amour’ (Circus of Love) at the Hotel Meurice during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday 5th October.

Circus of Love showcases Dinnigan’s Spring Summer collection combining the expression of sport and luxe. It is a fresh palette of pastels and crisp whites creating     a backdrop to detailed and delicate embellishment.  Hues of lemon and mint contrast against elaborate lyrical prints arresting the audience and ricocheting a fantasy of spirit.

Shades of nude anchor the Collection and hues of pistachio bow to the whimsical and highlight Dinnigan’s signature handcrafted detail. Cascading ruffles are fanciful and free-spirited whilst mixed textures modernise the silhouette. Souvenir prints with pleated contrasting serve to deliver a Collection encapsulating a newfound ease   for contrast – soulful vitality.

Dinnigan on her participation at Paris Fashion Week said, “"The honour of showing in Paris is as much about representing Australia on a global design stage as it is about growing our presence in an international market, I feel incredibly privileged to be acknowledged in a forum of my peers. Cirque d’ Amour is youthful, fresh and channels the sport of performing".

2010 also marks further milestones for Collette Dinnigan, in addition to her 15th year showing in Paris it is also her 20th year in business and the 10th year since opening her London store at Chelsea Green.

For the Aamby Valley India Bridal Week, Manish will be showcasing a timeline of his designs from 2008 to 2010. . It is his unique design sensibility and talent, which has won him acclaim and repute in the international fashion industry.

A spin down memory lane with ensembles from his past collections with themes varying from Pop Art to Circus, Space age to Art Deco, he will present garments in futuristic silhouettes bearing a cornucopia of colors and innovative surface ornamentation, enhanced with the use of sparkling CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements. The collection will be an amalgamation of Manish Arora’s most memorable creations during the course of his career.

He is the first Indian designer to have been showing internationally, in London and more recently in Paris for the past four years. Manish Arora is also an elected member of the Chamber Syndicale, of only 100 members including fashion houses like Louis Vuitton, Chanel etc.

Aamby Valley City has been supporting Manish Arora as the principal sponsor for the past three seasons for his shows at the Paris Fashion Week and the association has been extended to designing uniforms and interiors of Cabanas and Hermitage at the Aamby Valley City.

The much awaited participating list of designers was announced for the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) Spring-Summer (SS) 2011 by Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). A select milieu of some of the most well known names in the industry will weave together a week to remember at the sprawling venue of India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), Hall No. 18, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 23-27 October, 2010.

Commenting on the participating designers, Mr. Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI said, “Every edition of the fashion week promises an extraordinary and enviable list of designers who showcase on the runway and exhibition area. Promoting new talent from across India, this season, numerous young designers will be displaying their creative brilliance for the first time in the capital. I wish all of them, the very best as they gear up to participate at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2011."
