Varija Bajaj creates her collection for WIFW Spring/Summer 2011 from enchanting traditional work to bright and colorful Indian ensemble that include right from lehenga-cholis and saris to variety of colorful suits.

Varija’s bridal collection is a feast for the brides who are fashion conscious with an element of fun. The mood is boho, modern and cutting-edge – yet the soul belongs to the glorious and illustrious past. Her trademark tassels, use of beads and other trims are for the younger lot. Interesting twist is given to conventional cuts. A lot can be done with a conventional 6 yards of Sari-and that’s what is amusing to see in her creations. There is an extensive use of nets, georgettes, silk and satin in the collection which is bold yet beautiful, sensual yet aesthetic, romantic yet practical.

Embodying a highly individualistic and hedonistic way of life, Nalandda Bhandari presents her latest prêt-couture collection. Dedicated to the woman who is never silent, never still. Resort Nuit is an expression of her positive attitude, unbridled energy and sheer joie de vivre. Resort Nuit entices her to step out into the night in style – accessorized to the hilt or simply worn to exude a subtle sensuousness.

Dressing up the likes of Avanti Birla, Ramona Garware, Gauri Khan, Maheep Kapoor, Bhavana Pandey, Malaika Arora Khan, Zeba Kohli, Nalandda finds her inspiration from travel, realism and designers like Mathew Willamson, Alessandrao Dell’Acqua and Blumarine.

Her presence in India has brought a fresh new sensibility to…

Dubai based designer Ayesha Depala started her design career with the launch of her line I-SHA in 2002, after stints at both the prestigious Central St Martins School of Fashion, and The London College of Fashion in UK. With the success of the I-SHA brand came the consequent launch of her signature line AYESHA DEPALA, under which she presents both ready to wear and couture.

Ayesha’s presence in India has brought a fresh new sensibility to Indian fashion with elegant dreamy dresses and separates and razor sharp tailoring. Married two and a half years ago, Ayesha shuttles between her homes in London, Dubai and India, enabling her to keep her finger on the pulse of the global fashion scene and the influences of her travels are clearly visible in her collections.

Ayesha Depala is famed for her evening wear, with her use of light flowing fabrics and delicate embroidery. There is a meticulous attention to detail, and fluid, diaphanous gowns and dresses are a mainstay of her collections. The colour palettes are usually muted and soft, and the embroidery delicate, but rich. The paisley motif is always visible somewhere in her collections, albeit in a new and modern way, and the paisley has become synonymous with the Ayesha Depala brand. This fact was noted by New York publishing house PDN who is publishing the book “ Romance With Paisley” , and Ayesha’s work will be included in the book along with the likes of Oscar de la Renta and Bill Blass.

Ayesha also recently won the revered accolade of runner up in the best designer category, in the Annual Grazia fashion awards held in Dubai. She beat out names like Carolina Herrera, Versace, Oscar de la Renta and Gucci, to name but a few. In the second Grazia Style Awards in 2008, Ayesha Depala walked away the winner in the best regional designer category.

Herself very beautiful and stylish, Ayesha has had dressed the likes of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Yasmin Le Bon, Deepika Padukone, Neve Campbell, and Sonam Kapoor  to name a few, this lady has the who’s who, clamouring for her stunning red carpet creations the world over.

Ayesha has already amassed a sizeable couture client base worldwide, and her gowns can be seen adorning society women in Norway, Spain, UK and France, and the United States. Besides her boutique at the Ambawata Complex in New Delhi, she has opened a glittering new flagship store at the prestigious Village Mall in Dubai. The sumptuous space carries her ready to wear, couture and her newly established bridal line which will be an haute couture service. This will be followed shortly by a very special childrenswear range early next year.

It is a Bollywood walkthrough at HDIL India Couture Week, as fashion and stars that adorn them come wee bit closer. The red carpet gallery flashed and dazzled with the gleaming light and sound of shutter bugs as they posed for the glam moment before entering the show area. There came Sharukh Khan with his style diva wife Gauri Khan, Akshay Kumar with his glamorous wife Twinkle Khanna, stunning Shilpa Shetty enterd the venue with her husband Raj Kundra, Deepika Padukone rose the fashion quotient, Siddharth Mallaya looked equally stunning, Meher and Arjun Rampal. Its was already a show of fashion and beauty with such star studded evening and we also caught Rani Mukherjee in a blue one shoulder gown, Sameera Reddy strutted in a smart bat winged dress,. Other present at the already loaded with glamour fashion were, Raveena Tandon, Anil Kapoor, Shamita Shetty, Abhay Deol, Sohail Khan, Neelam, Karishma Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Dino Morea, Urmila Matondkar and many more.
