The forte of the label lies in Rahul’s and Gunjan’s ability…

Sirali, the brain child of immensely talented duo Rahul Jain and Gunjan Arora has managed to make its mark both in domestic and international markets. The forte of the label lies in Rahul’s and Gunjan’s ability to retain their originality and to steer clear of the mundane. Redefining the traditional crafts, the duo has endeavored to give men and women’s fashion an international look that spells indigenous character. Inspired by the traditional crafts of tie-dyes and the vibrant colours of India, their silhouettes are relaxed, functional and sometimes whimsical.

An alumnus of NIFT, New Delhi, Gunjan Arora began his career as an apprentice at the Atlelier for Gitanjali Kashyap in 1995. While a student, he was short-listed for Ritu Kumar’s Award for the Most Ingenious Technique. Arora is also an extensive traveler. In the course of his travels across India, Arora acquainted himself with its rich variety of textiles, colours and motifs. His visits to Bhuj gave him a taste for the traditional crafts of tie-dye and block printing. He has since incorporated this rich and traditional craft in his designs, bringing global recognition to its distinctive appeal.

On the other hand, Rahul found his true calling a little later in life. A science graduate, he gave up a career in the Civil Services to pursue studies in business administration, specializing in international marketing. Dissatisfied with his corporate career, however, he soon gave vent to his creative side, finding expression through the various art forms of cinema, classical dance and design. Jain is also a strong votary of yoga and meditation.

Sirali took place in their brilliantly creative minds and culminated into a fashion label in the year of 1998, following the attention it got over the outfit done for Caroline Douglas, the chief co-ordinater of the British Museum. The outfit for the launch of the Museums exhibition in India caught the eyes of Delhi’s glitterati and various offers to retail at well-known fashion houses followed. Since then it has graced outlets like Ogaan, The NIFT Shop in Delhi, ,Saga, Pantaloon "Spring board"," Buzz" shoppers stop in Mumbai ,AZA in Mumbai, Flolio in Bangalore, Amethyst, Collage and Studio Saks in Chennai, Ebony’s "Studio Ivory" and a few noted stores like Sanskrit in Hong Kong , Tara Blanca in Tokyo."Sirali" boasts of written about clientele like Caroline Douglas, Naomi Campbell, Mallaika Arora, and so on.

With the label already in the foreign markets and available at select stores all over the country, its aims to reach higher grounds with its motto of being a creative brand with effective availability.

Sleek, chic and glamorous – these three words can perhaps describe any Peacock creation. The husband-wife duo of Shane & Falguni Peacock love to dress women donning their creations in ultra-feminine and fantastically elegant clothes. The brand they have created is synonymous to highly luxurious prêt, resort and evening wear. Their look is more fusion, western cut and Indian work with an incredible international appeal.

This is evident from their ever growing, ever impressing list of international clientele. While singer Fergie chose their edgy design for her performance at the FIFA, there is Ozzy Osbourne’s new video which features two of their futuristic outfits. Then there is pop singer Brandy who opted for their ‘neo-age design’ outfit at this year’s American Music and Entertainment Awards. Actor Naomi Harris and well-known Israeli actor Golan have also been known to grace their creations.

Success, though, didn’t come easy to the pair. Shane studied engineering at the behest of his father, and Falguni who came from a background of chartered accountants and lawyers, was greeted with equal skepticism when she chose to become a fashion designer. In the end she settled for a Commercial Art degree to make her family happy but working in an ad agency only made her unhappy. Fortunately for fashion lovers across the globe, both found their true calling in fashion.

The couple started their work in August of 2002, specializing in mainly trousseau and custom made garments. Later in the same year, their prêt label was launched.  They begun by retailing at the premier designer stores around India and then went on to launch their very own Flagship store "Peacock Prêt" in Dec 2003. The duo has managed to divide work amongst them neatly. While Falguni looks into the orders and the running of the company, Shane focuses into the growth and expansion of the company.

They have been consistently working together towards the international market and have already set foot by retailing at London, Manchester, Miami, Marbella and Dubai. In India apart from their flagship store, their creations can be found at Fuel Mumbai and M&S Design Delhi.
