Review

Nitin Chawla’s collection called “Opposites Attract” showcased an artistic romance between a sports nut and street fashion loving guy and a sophisticated girl who are totally opposite in nature but gradually fall in love.

Matching to the theme were the fabrics that ranged from cottons, knits to mélange knits and leather. The colors pallet had dark grey, black, charcoal, military green, white, and pink making a splash.

For men’s he introduced prints/solids zippered jackets, slouchy Tees, camouflage battle jackets with interesting cargoes all in rugged masculine hues, detachable zipper sleeve detailed jacket.

Women’s wear included sleek printed shirt with glowing stripes, double breast long coat and net detailed shirt waister with front accentuated long coat. Other stunning options were biker jackets, trench coat and relaxed trousers teamed with printed rugged jackets. The floral pattern thread filled biker jacket and the camouflage floral embroidered trousers were just outstanding.

“Vasundhara Mantri showcased her collection “Blurred Lines” which created a magic on the ramp through its sparkling designs.

Marrying to the theme were jewelries that were strong, bold with geometric shapes and asymmetric lines. Incredible in design as well as concept were geometric gold shoulder harnesses, matching haath phools, a mix of necklace and armlet in spheres and the neck-cum-belt and ring.

Some interesting entries were jagged triangles linked together with a floral pendant and an abstract neckpiece with random jewelled circles .Interlinked triangles formed a cape and hand décor; while a draped necklace ended as an armlet. Other gripping designs were a one-shoulder draped creation and the jagged crown, necklace-cum-body harness.

Stopping the show was Evelyn Sharma who was wearing a triangular motif necklace, dappled with floral motifs and a hair ornament.

Influenced from an image taken by Rogue Samus, Chandni Mohan presented her collection “In Between Spaces”.

The collection depicted the concept of sharp dimensions and illusions. For the garments Chandni used old technique of pleating and shaped exceptional geometric structures. The silhouettes varied from deconstructed capes and asymmetrical tops paired with basic trousers and straight fit dresses. The fabrics ranging from wool to micro and silk crepe came in colors like slate, pitch-black, nude, maroon and mist.

Eye-catching designs were a basic black dress with pleats used as texture and a black and nude jacket with folded detailing and carved geometric shapes. Other highlights were a wrap over pleated black top paired with a basic nude slit skirt, a black kimono with gathered red blouse, a formal ankle length trouser and an graceful black jumpsuit with drape details.

Narendra Kumar’s exotic “The Monaco Diaries” collection offered the perfect trousseaus for a resort destination wedding.

The silhouettes were classic, clean and sophisticated. The stunning wedding trousseaus were meticulously crafted using fabrics like silk, sheer organza, taffeta, light weight georgette with lots of lace in shades of coral and pastels like lavender, mint, and darker hues like purple, midnight blue and burgundy. The creations were adorned with cutwork, lace, crystals, hand/machine resham/cord work and appliqués.

Models glided the runway in peplum jackets or blouses teamed with pants or skirts, long feminine kurtas with ruffles. Draped evening gowns with long sleeves had embroidered bodices. Florals prints in varying sizes and patterns were the center of attraction.

Men’s wear range featured suits, jacquard jackets and bundgalas in shades of beige, light orange, mint and deeper dark masculine tones. Constructed close to the body, the jackets sported two-button closures teamed with skinny ankle length trousers.

Inspired by Lakmé’s latest innovation, Lakmé Insta Light, designer Namrata Joshipura displayed an incredible and dazzling collection.

The silhouettes were sharp and sexy. Perfectly matching to the theme was shimmering and Holographic fabric with sparkling floral prints and metallic stripes. Enhancing the garments were hues of white, light pastel blue and purple.

Dressed in swimwear, four models with strategically placed lit bulbs on their bodice opened the show and created quite an impact as the LED lights glided down the runway in pitch darkness.

Gracing the ramp were models in stunning creation including batwing printed covers, dolman sleeve tops, asymmetric long sleeve printed wraps, drop waist dress and sparkling racer back tops. The collection was packed with cocktail gowns with thigh-high slits, one-piece swimsuits, micro shorts, asymmetric wraps, formal jumpsuits and flared pants.

Show stopper Shraddha Kapoor walked the ramp wearing an iridescent white jumpsuit with lovely flared bottoms.
