With the winters bidding a complaisant adieu and the starry nights and glazing noons waving a silent pleasantry, its palpably spring. The luxury stores around the globe are in the springy mien with Spring/Summer 2011 collections making their way to the shelves very soon. The effervescently romantic springs are about colors and this season they are prevalent like never before in electric bright hues in vivid prints and patterns. Such are stripes this spring.

The summer fashion staple stripes are ubiquitously ruling the fashion roost with every other designer playing with the running linear-s. The stripping fascination for stripes can be widely seen in collections of Prada, Vivenne Westwood, Junya Watanabe and Jil Sandler. From horizontally scudding, vertically reposing to slantingly directing ones, the stripes dominated the runways in hints of orange, green, blue, yellow and violet. Varying in thickness and patterns – the prisoner, sailor and postman, stripes are appropriate for the season keeping the minimalism intact.



The nautical stripes in authentic navy and white are perfect summer wear.  When paired with bell bottoms (which are back) give the 70s hippie look. Contrast is the flavor of the season. Wear your striped shirt ala Prada with floral skirt to let the high dose of femininity. 



From pants to dresses to jumpsuits, stripes are everywhere this season in alternating colors and thickness. The horizontal striped asymmetric dress by Vivienne Westwood in electric red, blue, green and yellow renders the spirit of the vibrant springs.



The designer Junya Watanabe played amazingly with stripes. Seemed smitten by striping magic his collection showed models wearing striped leggings, drop waisted dresses and silken scarves all in stripes
