Though an unusual name, ‘The Charcoal Project’ is a world of opulence. Adding wings to her dream, Sussanne Roshan has put together a two level store of home décor, artefacts and upholstery that is simply awe inspiring. The luxury and the magnificence of each creation is so unique, that the entire feel of the place is magical.

Apart from designing a vast majority of products that are on display, Sussanne has also sourced eclectic pieces with her aesthetic sense. Sharing her vision to have a space that offers out of the box creations, popular designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla and international designer Martin have also created niche objects for ‘The Charcoal Project’.

While Sussanne has captured the classy Renaissance beauty in her home décor products like plush bedding finery, grandfather wall clocks, luxurious sofa sets, huge mirrors with ornamental frames, scented candles, beautiful lampshades, Sandeep and Abu have invoked the larger than like, Maharaja’s style in their royal chairs with high back rest, cushions with zari work and Indian motifs, huge metallic treasure chests, interesting glass works and animal replicas. Martin on the other hand pumps up the contemporary quotient of the entire spread with vintage car show pieces, fun tables like the 3D versions of words such as ‘SEXY’ and ‘LOVE’ in shinning black metal, furry carpets, cozy cushions, interesting lampshades and so on.

There are antique show pieces distributed all across the store like huge books, giant size metallic gorillas, flying eagles, interesting sculptures, looming chandeliers, wall fountain and so on that adds on to the subtle old world charm. There is also a small cafeteria at the basement of the store that has cute orange, white and red kettles grouped together and hung from the ceiling to complete the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ feel.
The guests who came for the inauguration of the store included Sussanne’s mom Zarine Khan, hubby Hrithik Roshan, their two sons, father-in-law Rakesh Roshan, designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, international designer Martin, yester year’s star Jitendra, the young heart-throb Shahid Kapoor and more.
