Long legged lass Shruti Iyer can talk relentlessly for days with innate ease. Grown up as an awkward fat girl (she says so, but we don’t buy it), Shruti turned out to be the ‘I Am She’s 2010 finalist, charming the world with her glinting eyes and unadulterated smile.

So here is Shruti Iyer, unraveling her other side.

Tell us briefly about your early life, family and academics?
Well, I grew up in Mumbai and did my schooling from Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School. Later I pursued my graduation from Ruia College. Growing up I was an awkward fat girl. I was very talkative and hence was avoided by people…..(giggles). But then I loved dancing so joined Shiamak Davar’s Institute of performing arts and I found the perfect way to channel my energies. I lost weight and realized I was taller than average girls. So I wanted to give modeling a go and well the rest is history.

How you bumped into your first assignment?
I was selected among the top 10 finalists all over India for the Seventeen Cover Girl hunt. That happened because a friend of mine suggested my name and sent my pictures.

What did you aspire to become as kid?
I always loved the job of a teacher. As a kid I would love writing on the blackboard for
some reason and I loved talking so I figured being a teacher was the perfect job.

Your greatest achievement?
Ummm….. I think professionally it was being among the top 5 finalist in ‘I AM SHE’ 2010.

When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing?
Hanging out with friends, watching movies etc.

How has been your experience with modeling till date?
I have always loved fashion from the time I have come to know of it. And fashion is
lifestyle and if you have it,  the industry will welcome you with open arms.

Where do you see yourself 10 years down the line?
Lazing on a beach somewhere in the Bahamas. I don’t think that far.

What is fashion for you?
It’s a way of life.

Your beauty and fitness regime?
Have a lot of water, eat healthy and take up fun activities that make you happy. Trust me it shows on your face.

What is your idea of an ideal date?
On the beach at sunset with good food and good company.
