Life is like an amoeba, till the time we get used to its shapes and patterns it has already changed. Amruta Patki knows this very well and lives for the moment. She never plans but dreams and carries them close to her heart in baby sling. Amruta strongly believes in destiny and feels it can’t be altered but enjoyed without any regrets. Miss India Earth 2006 was a happy coincidence for this self-assured dreamer from effervescent Mumbai who inherently knows the art of traversing the troubled waters with flying colors. After this day this seductress never halted and went ahead to become a prominent face of the advertising world.

Recently she shot for Apoorva Lakhia’s “Hide n Seek” and made her entry into bollywood. So we caught up with her in a lively chat and she poured out her opinions about fashion and some of her deeply harbored secrets unhesitantly.

Family and academics…
I studied in Utkarsha Mandir Marathi Medium School. Like any other kid I was very mischievous. A bright student and always wanted to pursue singing as my career as I am a trained Indian classical singer and won several interschool competitions. I never thought I would become a model and an actor. I used to participate in drama competitions but I was quite an introvert as a teenager.

How and why did you pick up modeling as a career.?
Its one of the most beautiful coincidences of my life. I participated in a local Miss Mumbai competition when I was in college, and gradually started doing ramp shows. Hemant Trivedi came across my magazine editorial pictures and asked me if I was confident enough to go for Miss India 2006 auditions. I got through and post that there was no looking back.

How do you plan your future what next goals have you set for yourself?
I never plan anything as I believe in destiny .I go with the flow. I am a dreamer. I hope for the best and give my 200% to whatever I do and live every moment to the fullest.

Any social cause or issue that has stirred you and you are working for?
I am supporting a mentally challenged children’s school since past 4 years.

How do you see the future of fashion in India?
Brighter and brighter as India is one of the very few nations with the perfect blend of culture and urbanization.

Having been in one of the most glamorous industry how do you see fashion as from an insider’s point of view?
Its fantastic. It teaches you to be better than the best as there is a cut throat competition. This industry has made me both physically and mentally strong.

Fashion in India has undergone dramatic changes in a very short span of time and has grown manifolds as well and you have been associated with it so how would you word the changes in the fashion scene?
Indian fashion industry is drastically booming. India fashion week is as big as Paris, New York or Milan fashion week in terms of designers, models and international buyers.

What about the modeling industry globally and in India at present and what it has grown from?
Fashion weeks in India started less than a decade ago and it has already created its own niche in international market.

How is Amruta Patki as a person, what books do you like, what sort of music do you enjoy and all that comprises the most essential part of you  other than modeling?
Amruta Patki is a simple girl from a simple family, extremely ambitious, hopeful spiritual, who believes in herself, a bit self obsessed yet selfless. I like reading inspirational books. I enjoy reading human psychology and philosophy. I thoroughly enjoy trance and bollywood music. I love traveling. I am a big foodie.

What is your opinion on the increasing number of fashion weeks in India?
India is as big as Europe… if Europe can have several fashion weeks like Milan, Paris, London etc.  Why can’t we have several fashion weeks in several cities of the nation showcasing uniqueness of each state.
