With the advent of spring and summer 2014, Ridhi Mehra unveils her new collection ‘Ambrosia’, taking from the fragrance and the beauty of the Ambrosia flower.

Retaining the signature Ridhi Mehra touch, she explores styles from flared jumpsuits, indo-western summer jackets, dhoti pants paired with embroidered crop tops, shararas, nine yards of sarees to her signature anarkalis. The colour palette depicts the tale of a summer romance with shades like sunny oranges, pale peaches, perky pinks, royal reds and tonal darker shades for the summer nights. The floral vine motifs that adorn the bodice of these garments are done in tones of copper, silver and dull golds to complement the summer palette.

Design experimentation in the form of metallic applique work, sequined spray dupattas, clever use of peek-a-boo lace and classic Ridhi Mehra embroidery retains its statuesque charm in this collection.

The 23rd edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2014 ,will have an opening with ace style guru Tarun Tahiliani spearheading the hotly anticipated fashion extravaganza on the 26th March.

Expressing his happiness Tarun said, “It is always wonderful to open a week, as we celebrate the new Autumn Winter Collection of colour, drape, jewels and a true synthesis of modernity overlaying tradition. To reflect what Amrita Sher-Gil said –“I am an individualist, evolving a new technique, which, though not necessarily Indian in the traditional sense of the word, will yet be fundamentally Indian in sprit”.

The extremely talented and innovative designer Aarti Vijay Gupta amuses her fans yet again by showcasing her latest collection, inspired by ‘Indian miniature paintings’, at the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week. Popular for her uniquely inspired collections, Aarti’s continues to introduce in the fashion world a collection inspired by a differentiated theme-paying tribute to the period from 16th to 19th centuries.

The collection titled ‘Indian Miniature Paintings’ is a replete of flora and fauna with the silhouettes knitted in the exclusive Habutai Silk fabric. The theme would be inspired by the literature, art, poetry and music of those times. The efficient and the enhancing feature of the collection is its wearability at all occasions.

Aptly titled as ‘A Summer Affair’, the S/S 14 collection by Manish Malhotra will be showcased at the opening day of Lakme Fashion Week on 11th March.

With innovative silhouettes, flowing fabrics, along with bold floral prints and his signature embroidery, this glamorous collection is sensual in its vintage appeal and fluidity. Sheer, lightweight fabrics such as Organza, Georgette, Tulle and Chantilly lace, in easy silhouettes make the ensembles perfect for brunches, cocktails .

Creating a stirring affair between hues of pink, powder blue, beige and ivory along with navy and grey, this summer it is all about print on print, embroidery on embroidery and tone on tone – threads mixed with metal and mirror add an inspired edginess. Utility becomes a statement accessory with visible zip saris and summer skirt lehengas with pockets,Bolero jackets with kurtas and easy slim pants give the collection a fashion forward edge.

For the men’s we will see different textures in contemporary Indian jackets, Sherwanis are overruled by Bandis, and kurtas get a makeover as shirt kurtas.

Gaurav Gupta, one of the youngest couturiers and with the ‘Future of Couture’ title, adds yet another feather in a fitting collaboration with the world renowned UK based jewellery label Mawi Keivom, for his upcoming show at LFW SR 2014.

In recent times the Gaurav Gupta Woman has been about the rapidly changing progressive choices, exposure and attitudes of women not only in India but globally.

All set to create an extra terrestrial show, he says, is it time that passes or we alone who pass through it? Among prevailing elements, time is perhaps that has most mystified, bewildered, excited and placated thinkers of all ages. Memphire by Gaurav Gupta is a journey in time that leaps forward to an imagined Egypt, blanketed in mysticism of the future.

On the physical plane, this story is told by silhouettes like Carbon Lattice, Isis, Serpent Wave and Diagonal Murmur. They reflect through a composition of Egyptian gowns, multi draped futuristic saris and sari gowns and body suits that cling with a diamond sharpness but flow seamlessly at the same time. Gold, copper, anthracite, flame orange and teal in metallic jersey complete the looks.
