The British Fashion Council announced the names of six Rock Vault jewellers set to display their latest collections during London Fashion Week September 2016, in the Designer Showrooms at Brewer Street Car Park.

For 2016/2017 new recipients Daou Jewellery and Frances Wadsworth Jones join existing Rock Vault designers COMPLETEDWORKS, Lily Kamper, Rachel Boston and Shimell and Madden. This year Ana de Costa, Beth Gilmour, Jacqueline Cullen, Ornella Iannuzzi, RUIFIER and Yunus and Eliza all graduate from the initiative.

Curated by Stephen Webster MBE, this unique showcasing initiative was established by the British Fashion Council to nurture the creative fine jewellery talent based in the UK. For the past four years Stephen has taken the Rock Vault designers with him to showcase at the prestigious COUTURE Las Vegas show.

For CFDA Member Scosha Woolridge, is an Australia native grew up an athlete and was training for the Olympics, but never ended up participating. In 2000, she went backpacking for four years, and while in Northern Brazil, where she learned macramé knotting technique.

During the day, she would employ this technique and strung together seeds that she sold at the local night market—providing the base for her jewelry business.

The Olympics and Brazil carry special meaning for the designer—Woolridge was selected by the Ralph Lauren Corp. to create a bracelet for the official Team USA Olympic uniform that Lauren designed for the Olympic Games in Rio. Key to the partnership was that the piece was completely sourced and manufacturing in the U.S. and Woolridge passed the test – the bracelet was sampled and developed in Scosha’s Brooklyn studio and manufactured in New York.

India’s GST Bill has finally seen the light, it amends the Constitution, paving the way for what is popularly referred to as the concept of “one nation, one tax.”
Labelled as one of the biggest tax reforms since Independence, the change will streamline the fragmented tax system covering approx. 7.5 million businesses in India. It’s official. Raf Simons has been named the new chief creative officer of Calvin Klein, after three years as women’s creative director of Christian Dior Couture.

Apparently Calvin Klein has also appointed Pieter Mulier, Simons’ right hand man, as the creative director, reporting directly to the designer. “Mulier will be responsible for executing Simons’ creative and design vision for all men’s and women’s apparel and accessories lines within the Calvin Klein brand,” the company said in a statement.

The arrival of Simons comes soon after the news that Dior has hired Valentino co-creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri to design its women’s collections, replacing Simons, who resigned in October 2015 from the LVMH-controlled French luxury house.
