It’s questioning of form and silhouettes were revived, after his premature death, by the great coutouriers who succeeded him: YSL, John Galliano, Marc Bohan and today Raf Simons.

Taking an entirely original approach to fashion and photography, Jerome Gautier follows the interplay between Christian Dior’s most emblematic works and the most recent collection.

Luxury brand Bulgari has come up with new exhibition called “Bvlgari + Rome: Eternal Inspiration”, that captures the relationship between Bulgari and the Eternal City of Rome, from the architecture to the sculptures.

The brand’s New York flagship store is playing host to 40 pieces curated by Lucia Boscaini from their archives and private collections, plus authentic ancient Roman artifacts, like marble busts of Venus and coins dating back to the first century.

On display at the exhibition is a tiered gold and diamond necklace that echoes the vaulted ceilings of the, private collections of Italian actress Anna Magnani and Barbara Sinatra, a silver cigarette box gifted by Elizabeth Taylor and Richard to director Joseph Mankiewicz.

There’s also one of the most infamous coins of all time: the “Ides of March” denarius issued by Brutus in 43-42 BC to commemorate the assassination of Julius Caesar and a bib necklace designed to look like Via Appia. The exhibition is open to public till November 22, 2015.

PANERAI BOOK MARSILIO 2015The new book PANERAI tells the story of the past and present of the Florentine high quality sports watchmaking brand Officine Panerai, which in just a few years has transformed what was a niche product for collectors into a global. Available in four languages – Italian, English, Chinese and Japanese – the Panerai book is distributed throughout the world.

Published by the Italian publishing house Marsilio and created with the editorial coordination of the Cologni Foundation for the Métiers d’Art, the book respects the identity of the brand with its elegant, simple yet sophisticated graphic design, its exquisite attention to detail, and the richness and originality of its content. It consists of five essays covering five different aspects of the identity of Officine Panerai, each one written by a different author. The essays take the reader on a journey through the fascinating worlds which define the distinctive identity of the Florentine brand: the history, the technology, the sea and the design.

This last aspect is covered by the respected historian and art critic Philippe Daverio who, with his unmistakeable discerning style, puts the creation of the first Panerai watches in context. The first Radiomir is dated 1936 and he places it “Among the classics of modernity”. The Panerai watch is associated with the first examples of great Italian and international design, as well as with the architecture and works of art which marked the international style in the 1930s and 1940s.The essay by ProfessorPaolo Galluzzi, Director of the Museo Galileo in Florence, illustrates the role which Italy, and in particular the capital of Tuscany where the first Panerai watch was created, played in the development of time measuring instruments.
