The vivacious Gisele Bündchen has been tapped as the face of Chanel N°5 all new campaign titled ‘The One That I Want’. One of the most popular fragrances worldwide, Chanel N°5 is for the woman who completely believes in herself, the one who is independent in the true sense and the one who exactly knows are inner self and conscience.

elle-00-gisele-O1U9xc-lgnFollowing the footsteps of former Chanel N°5 queens like Marilyn Monroe, Catherine Deneuve, Carole Bouquet and Nicole Kidman, Gisele is herself an iconic woman of the decade. In the revealed representational video clip of the campaign, Gisele looks ravishing and dynamic as ever in the blingy Chanel zip up one piece, big-haired ’60s bombshell, freely moving the puddled streets of New York.

Meanwhile, the campaign has been produced, conceived, and directed by the filmmaker Baz Luhrmann.

The recent former artistic director of Nina Ricci, Peter Copping has been officially announced as the creative director for the American fashion house, Oscar de la Renta.

1A graduate of the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins in London, Peter has served as the artistic director at Nina Ricci for 5 years. He has also been a part of the luxury French Fashion house-Louis Vuitton for 12 years wherein he worked as the first assistant of Marc Jacobs for the brand’s ready to wear line.

With his individualistic design sensibilities and imaginative mind set, the designer now looks forward to present his collection for Oscar de la Renta in February 2015.

1Amazon, one of the leading e-tailer companies in the world, joined hands with India’s Future Group retail chain-the parent company of a myriad of businesses that sell everything from groceries to fashion apparel, to sell its products on the dedicated Indian Amazon’s site.

Announced on 13th October, the deal is much more than a transactional involvement with Amazon, wherein several synergies in data sharing, co-branding, cross promotion and distribution network sharing will be explored through the partnership.

Keeping in mind the fact that the rules in India are quite restrictive in terms of allowing foreign retailers to sell directly or to invest on their own into the retail business, the partnership between the two seems to be completely apt and well timed.

While Amazon India will assist Future Group in accelerating new product development in categories that are currently not served by traditional retailers, as advanced by the Indian retailer, the two will kick-start the deal with the fashion category and will eventually be extended to all other categories.2

Moreover, Future Group will also utilize Amazon’s platform to sell its private labels like Lee Cooper, Converse, Indigo Nation, Scullers or Jealous21, among others from its portfolio of over 40 brands.

Well, the association of the two is surely a crucial progress, primarily for Amazon, which despite being known to be the most customers’ centric company is currently lagging behind its biggest competitor Flipkart. Besides, the deal will also reportedly facilitate Future Group’s target of ‘gross merchandise sales’ of 60 billion rupees (1 billion dollars) in three years.

Well, the Japanese fashion week of Tokyo is all set to give a challenging competition to the otherwise rampant and so called popular fashion weeks of Milan, Paris, New York and London. Here we see some new budding designers and the already established giants of the fashion industry coming up with their exquisite creations on the runway.

1The day kicked off with the magnificent Hanae Mori by Yu Amatsu, who came up with a classic collection in blacks, whites, fuchsia pinks, yellows, aquamarine and many more. Vintage terrestrial and on surface butterfly prints was the major highlight of the collection. Replete of subtle gowns, midis, pant-suits and fish tail bulky gowns, the collection’s wearability was strictly restricted to formal and semi-formal wear. Keeping the comfort factor intact along with providing structured silhouettes, the designer succeeded in swaying the onlookers’ fondness.

Next came up Mint Design’s Hokuto Katsui and Nao Yagi in full swing with their funky check and innovative stripe prints. Free flowing and over-sized silhouettes seemed to be the designer’s utmost priority. A couple of user friendly and casual wear was majorly attracted the onlookers. For those who believe in keeping it completely off beat and unconventional, Mint Designs RTW 2015 is a must have!

Last but definitely not the least, fashion labels Somarta by Tamae Hirokawa and Dress Camp by Toshikazu Iwaya. Both the collections were presented in dark and eerie ambiences where the former’s showcase was in a department store, instead of a full-fledged runway show. Somarta Ready to wear was mostly formal clothes like dresses, coats, jackets and free flowing skirts. While the latter however, went more street style and casual. Their collection included the most playful-sweatshirts, bermudas, gowns, shorts and dresses- of all times.

Hence, the first day of the Tokyo Fashion Week was worth the wait. Let’s see what the upcoming days of the Japanese fashion world, are like.
