250 9Marc Newson, the Australian based famed industrial designer has been hired by Apple Inc. to work on its future prospects alongside his close friend and collaborator of the iPhone maker’s head of design, Jony Ive. He will be a part of 20 people in Apple, who work exclusively on designs, quality and physical feel that the brand is known for.

Speaking of Newson’s past life, the designer’s works have been previously featured by New York’s Museum of Modern Art. He has also designed plane seats for Qantas Airlines Limited, concept cars for Ford Motor Company and various watches and furniture pieces.

With this new and recent appointment, Apple continues with its tradition to hire high-profile people, outside of the technology industry, where Burberry’s Chief Executive Officer Angela Ahrendts is running Apple’s retail stores and former Yves St Laurent SA CEO Paul Deneve is working on ‘special projects’, amongst many others.

However, Newson will commute regularly to the company’s headquarters in Cupertino and California, while being based in UK.

The New York Fashion Week slowly approaches its end with designer labels like Falguni and Shane Peacock, Michael Kors, Deola Sagoe, Bhibhu Mohapatra and Boss, exhibiting their mesmerising creations on the runway.

Speaking of Falguni and Shane Peacock, the designers are famed for their individuality and creative styling with which they design. Their SS 2015 collection was, in a similar manner, replete of unique evening wear and party ensembles that looked way off the edge and chic. With structured silhouettes and exclusive on surface embellishments, the creations wearability could also be extended to semi-formal celebratory occasions. Dark colour palette and blingy embellishments like glossy stones and lace work were the highlight of the collection.

Simplistic styles with free flowing silhouettes were the main essence of the collection. A complete day wear, the creations included pretty midis, maxi dresses, crop tops paired with long skirts, vintage check dresses and a few structured blazer jackets amongst many others. Speaking of embellishments and prints, the garments comprised of applique 3D floral embroideries, vibrant floral prints and basic check prints, which further added to its simplicity and elegant grace.

Moving on, Indian designer Bhibhu Mohapatara added to the much required diversity in the New York Fashion Week. With his love for sumptuous Indian fabrics and vibrancy of colours, he presented a collection that captures the passion for independency in today’s women. Glamorous dresses filled with dynamism and personality enhancing attitude, the collection was an exciting bunch of sexy evening wear ensembles. The colour scheme, however, was minimalistic, including a few glimpses of dull red, glossy baby pink, nude pink, sky blue, and mild beige to name a few.

580Hugo Boss, proved to be among other highlights of the day, presenting an exclusive womanly collection grounded with practicality. The designer surely presented some novel and unique dresses for office goers. Skin fit skirts, blazers, trench coats, jackets and plain dresses were the dominating factors. Colour scheme was harmonising with the theme, include pastel shades of white, black, navy blue and nudes. Complicated stripes, buttons, a few surface layers and trendy high waist belts were among the few highlighting embellishments that made the collection, the major attraction for the evening.

The day continued with Betsey Johnson, Clover Canyon, Ricardo Seco, Anna Sui, Huajiastudio, Erin Fethersteon and B. Michael America.

Gucci unveils Frida Giannini’s new Jackie bag collection in the most creative and engaging way. Featuring Kate Moss, the famous luxury brand curates an exclusive short digital film which exhibits the Jackie bag collection.

Shot in Rome, the film sees Moss carrying Clement Chabernaud on her arm while being chased by the paparazzi, whose original muse is Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Occupied with all the Gucci essentials and prepared for any rampant escape, Moss is seen using her Jackie soft handbag as a shield from the photographer’s flash.

The bag is surely a new transformation from the conventional Gucci bags, with reference to its piston closure. The Jackie bags, however, were reintroduced by Frida, Gucci’s creative director in 2009. Its name is taken from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, for whom it was a preferred accessory.

Meanwhile, the video will go live on Gucci’s YouTube Channel today, along with a ten-second version that will appear in select expandable banner ad units as part of a worldwide digital media roll out. It will also appear on CNN International, both on television and online from September 15.
