LG Household & Healthcare is considering acquiring U.S.-based cosmetics company Elizabeth Arden as part of its efforts to expand its overseas business.

“Elizabeth Arden is one of the firms we are seeking to buy,” an official from LG Household & Healthcare said. “Mergers and acquisitions have been a big part of our business. We will grow our business through M&As.”

Since it acquired the Face Shop in 2010, LG Household & Healthcare has rapidly increased its presence in the overseas cosmetics market with the aim of growing as a global brand such as the Body Shop or L’Occitane.

The bidding price is estimated at about 1 trillion including the premium for the management right, which would be the biggest deal for LG Household & Healthcare. Elizabeth Arden posted $1.34 billion in sales last year.

Opening in May 2014, the upcoming exhibition Wedding Dresses 1775-2014 has had a long journey to arrive at the V&A, having already travelled 46,425 miles, to four international venues – where it has been seen by 240,000 people. With only few days to go before the exhibition opens at the V&A, there are no shortage of preparations to be made – it’s a little bit like getting ready for a real wedding in fact!

The exhibition will showcase around 70 wedding outfits and numerous accessories. Contempory highlights include loans from Dita von Teese, and Gwen Stefani; while stunning examples from the V&A collection, such as garments by designers Charles Frederick Worth, Norman Hartnell, and Christian Lacroix, demonstrate the facinating history of wedding attire, while also allowing a glimpse into the lives of the wearers.

Designer Vikram Phadnis showcases his latest collection at IIFA this year. The collection will be showcased at IIFA Rocks, an event held exclusively to provide an effective platform to fashion and music.

His collection titled ‘Nazakat’, aptly titled, is going to be about the classic rich old world designs, with an ethnic colour range including  black, beige, gold and maroon with bursts of red, pink and orange. The collection will be largely about Sarees along with Lehenga Cholis and Jalabias in tissues, nets, georgettes and brocades, all artistically and culturally rich without the modernising factor.

Gracing the event with their presence are going to be Bollywood celebrities like Shahid Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan along with Malaika Arora Khan as Vikram’s showstopper.

British accessory designer Sophia Webster marks another milestone in her career by designing an all new funky footwear collection for the brand ‘J.Crew’. The store showcases the designer’s creations as a part of its latest collections, after the two collaborated in September last year.

Having previously designed for celebrities like Solange Knowles, Dree Hemingway, Rihanna and Jennifer Lawrence, Sophia has been rocking the fashion the world ever since debuted in Spring/Summer 2013. Her collection for this American brand consists of stilettoes, ballerinas, boots etc. She has employed some colourful fun cartoon prints, cyber-cutes and whimsical detailing, all very tempting to the eye.

Presently, the collection has been successfully launched in US and awaits its launch in UK in May. Henceforth, the collection can also be bought online at JCrew.com from the Brompton Cross store in London.

This designer believes in exploring the fabric and creating garments at their natural best. He pursued a designing course from the Queensland University of Technology, Australia. Thereafter, he graduated in textile designing from the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology. Ujjawal has been always inclined towards the spiritual aspect of life and therefore named his label accordingly as ‘Antar-Agni’.

His men’s wear label is replete of garments that are a departure from the traditional, conventional style, reflecting a positive individuality and a graceful personality of a man. Having launched his label at Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2014 under the category of Gen-Next designers, he marked the milestone of his career. While creating his garments, he takes inspiration from the silhouettes and hues of the cold deserts of the world.

The nature admirer’s earlier experiences include working under the fine designers like Shantanu and Nikhil. Also, he showcased his label in ‘Summer Sorbet’, a multi-designer exhibition held in Dubai.

Along with some exclusive clothing, the designer also plans to create extraordinary pieces of ethnic jewellery under his label. He now looks forward to taking his label on some huge platforms and making it enter the mainstream fashion world.
