Gaurav Goel from Pearl Academy Chennai was declared as the winner of 8th edition of The Debut at Wills Lifestyle India fashion Week Aw 2014 from the 16 finalists shortlisted at the regional rounds held in Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai earlier this month. The young designer will receive sponsored trip to UK for a befitting course at the London School of Fashion. 1

An eminent jury comprising of celebrated fashion designers Namrata Joshipura, Pankaj & Nidhi, Sartaj Singh Mehta, Creative Head, Wills Lifestyle and Dr. Vandana Bhandari, NIFT Dean judged the Debut finale. The shortlisted candidates were judged on key parameters of Creativity, Technicality and Commercial Viability.
Out of the portfolios received, a separate jury further short-listed the entries to 45 potential candidates, who presented their creations in front of distinguished jury at the regional rounds.

Florence-based international trade show Pitti Uomo, Italy’s Camera della Moda and Paris’ Fédération Française de la Couture agreed to postpone the dates of their men’s fashion weeks. Coming January Four-day Pitti Uomo will open its doors on Jan. 13, while Milan Fashion Week will run Jan. 17 to 20 and Paris Fashion Week will follow, from Jan. 21 to 25.

As of now, London Fashion Week dates have not been announced, this January, London created a conflict as their men’s wear season started on Jan. 6, with Pitti Uomo, opening on Jan. 7.

This Kolkata based designer owns her perfect craftsmanship accessory line titled ‘Mehak’. Launched in 2006, her label is exquisite, unique and extremely dynamic. The outstanding factor for Mehak is the fact that the artist has pursued no professional course in designing and yet has produced ample amount of extraordinary jewellery and is recognised among the aces.

Having participated in as many as nine Lakme Fashion Weeks, the designer’s ethnic and contemporary accessories are adored by the leading fashionistas, Bollywood celebrities and their likes, all over the world.

Her key inspirations behind her glaring designs are extremely random, ranging from the elements of nature to her mother’s saree. Generally, she plays with intense and universal themes for her jewellery.  Agate seems to be Mehak’s favourite stone to work with, which also extravagantly visible in most of her works.

Having expanded her business to the international level over the years, the designer now retails her pieces of creativity from different fashion hubs in the world like Delhi, Mumbai, Dubai etc. Her collection can also be found at multi-designer stores like Kimaya, Aza, 85 Lansdowne, Evoluzione, Ffolio To Le Roshe, Ura Boutique and many others.

A student of 5th standard at Scottish High International School Radhey Patel awarded a distinguished Art scholarship at three of the best independent schools in United Kingdom, for his tremendous effort, dedication and preparation he has exhibited in his art and academic studies.

All set to display his work at the renowned NIFA’s Annual Art Exhibition slated for May 2014, child prodigy Radhey Patel rose to fame a few years ago when, the National Institute of Fine Arts labeled him child genius, praising the child for his tendency to create arts that, well, looked like the work of established artists.

In one of his paintings Junior Picasso Radhey dedicated to Nation’s father Mahatma Gandhi titled Transform: Making of a Mahatma attempts to show case how Gandhi, an attorney in South Africa transformed into a Mahatma during the fight for independence. Picasso and Van Gogh are his all time favorites. And he extensively believes in the theory of Picasso which says that every child is an artist, the problem is how to remain an artist once they grow up.

Radhey’s next challenge is to host an online exhibition of all his work in support of BBC Children in Need and contribute to the wellbeing of other children and help make a difference.
