Though Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli had very possible conversations at Metropolitan Museum of Arts this year but if the latest rumors surrounding the revival of this buried brand are anything to go by then its Erdem Moralioglu who will be holding its reins.

The talks regarding the revival of Schiaparelli which was closed in 1954 are making rounds since past few months and the names like John Galliano have already been tossed many a times. Now, if grapevine is to be believed then Canada-born British designer Erdem known for his beautifully detailed red carpet gowns will help edify Schiaparelli again.

Five pioneering individuals of this year’s Rolex Awards for Enterprise (RAE) will be honoured at a prestigious event to be held for the first time in New Delhi. This marks the first time that luxury watchmaker Rolex has held the ceremony for the international philanthropic programme in India.

Eminent members of Rolex’s global network will travel to India to recognize the work of these inspiring individuals: Sergei Bereznuk (Russian Federation), Barbara Block (United States), Erika Cuéllar (Bolivia), Mark Kendall (Australia) and Aggrey Otieno (Kenya) who has won Rolex Awards for projects ranging from marine research, revolutionary vaccine technology and tiger conservation.

Those from overseas will join ambassadors, members of the Indian government and ministries, industrialists, leaders of the corporate community and the film and cultural fraternity, to celebrate the Laureates and the spirit of enterprise that has driven their winning projects and that underpins India’s success in the world today.

The recently organized famous Watch of the Year award saw Piaget winning the award for Watchmaking Campaign of the Year award in the Film/Cyber Category with the film titled Dragon & Phoenix.

Piaget conceived and designed a collection comprising over 20 lyrical and precious creations that highlight a range of rare skills. More than 40 professions were indeed involved in giving life to the emblematic Dragon and Phoenix.

Gold engraving and sculpting, along with champlevé, miniature and grand feu enamelling, all reveal the artistry of ancestral crafts dedicated to watchmaking.

To convey the vibrancy of this exceptional collection, the House of Piaget and the “Le Truc” agency worked together to create a story that refers to the legend of the Dragon and the Phoenix. In a gentle dance performed to the tune of violins, these animals bring watchmaking products to life with a delightful blend of refinement and simplicity.

Ringier’s management paid tribute to a strong history and great creativity.

What if Lana Del Ray for Versace rumor turned out to be anticlimactic here is the British singer of Tamil descent better known by her moniker M.I.A. collaborating with Versace for a fashion range.

The starlet known for her bizarre sartorial choices confirmed about her tie-up with Versace and is working on lines like Versace Prints, Bootleg Versace and Versace Outlines. Though the dates of launch and any details are not yet revealed but what comes to the fore is that the collection will be reflective of M.I.A.

Apart from fashion going minimalist way and women walking tall riding on wave of feminism the visual flavour of 80s came in the form of this amazing work done by Japanese label Comme Des Garcons for an iconic A3 magazine of that era, Six.

Archiving that work the label has recently launched an iPad App named Moving Six, showcasing the selected works from the magazine. Moving Six navigates through selected highlights of the print archive, exploring photography and auditory space through parallax scrolling, puzzles and physical gesture.

The work commissioned by Rei Kawakubo of Comme Des Garcons explored the sixth sense through photography, illustration and artworks across eights issues between 1988 and 1991.

Felipe Oliveira Baptista, LACOSTE’s Artistic Director explores the company’s archives and adapts the brand’s DNA to present an inspired cutting-edge sportswear wardrobe with a distinctly urban feel.

Other than the collection’s sharp and sporty line with tapered legs allowing for weightless layering, large egg-like parkas enjoy a loser, rounder fall. In the same vein, the lose knitwear multiplies textural effects with androgynous subtlety, adds volume and relief to both the men’s and women’s looks. As a tribute to the 30s, a trompe-l’oeil tweed print appears on silk or wool voile.

This season, Baptista relies on a neutral colour palette: blues, winter whites and pearl greys vary in intensity and tone, going from medium to dark. Elegance is found in the alliance of navy and caramel, while energy is transmitted through the vibrant remix of French classic: blue, white and red.

The London based designer Shon Randhawa presented her new Patine Heritage Collection over a trunk show at S’Studio on Warren Road in Mumbai, of late.

The collection is a ready-to-wear range utilizing artisanal Indian embroidery techniques with a contemporary approach. Designed for the women who appreciate finely detailed garments that are both luxurious and unique, the collection with ethnic detailing is inspired by the costumes of the royal courts of India and 18th century miniatures from the royal courts of Jodhpur.

All done in luxe silks and velvets with exquisite embroidered accents and finishes, the collection is comprised of capes, jackets, saris, tunics and stoles. The highlight of the collection is the play of colorful silk linings on pastel hued creations.

The Brunch preview hosted by Haseena Jethmalani & Leetu Shivadasani of S’Studio saw the glam brigade of the city indulging in festive shopping. The attendees included Roohi Jaikishan, Mallika Advani, Priya Ailawadi Nathani, Renuka Jain, Pia Shivdasani, Vasudha Ruia, Czaee Shah, Sarita Garware, Madhoo Kapoor and Devaunshi Mehta amongst others.
