Fashion X-Ray PhotographyIt’s British photographer, Nick Veasey who loves to see the inner beauty of things, unlike vanity-ridden fashionistas going for superficial jejune stuff.

His idea of using x-ray industrial machine to discover the natural beauty, or say, the inner layers of the things embraces the eccentrically ‘obsessed with appearance’ world of fashion this time. In his latest fashion series, Nick revealed the inner planes of fashion products like stilettoes, innerwear, jackets, scarves and hats.

Actually, the concept of x-ray photography struck Nick while dating a truck driver’s daughter. Once the trucker who was ferrying thousands of soda cans, one of which contained a prize worth 100,000 pounds, rented an x-ray machine from a hospital to find the prized can, and the idea bowled over the photographer in such a way that he made a career out of it.

Indian Bazaar of GemstonesOne of the world’s leading gemstone miners, Gemfields, lately held an auction of predominantly lower quality rough emeralds in Jaipur.

The company in possession of the world’s single largest emerald mine in Zamibia put 10.85 million carats of emerald and beryl on offer, with the 3.47 million carats sold generating auction sales of $9 million.

The result of the auction stated that despite the global economic unease and weakening Indian rupee against the dollar, the overall demand of gemstones didn’t deter but showed the pattern shift.

About the Jaipur auction, Ian Harebottle, CEO of Gemfield, said,” Typically, general economic instability has a greater negative impact on the lower quality grades than it does on the higher quality material, the latter often being seen as a store of value in times of uncertainty. This effect was clearly seen at this auction, where demand for the lowest quality grades was indeed weaker than it has been for some time.”
