When it comes to Diesel, non-conforming, irreverent yet modish approach pops out – screaming of artistic liberty which the label is a proponent of.

So indulging in its perennial art affair, the label introduces Diesel+Art at its flagship store in Juhu, Mumbai – aiming to promote the experience of art on an ongoing basis by showcasing the bright young supernovas of tomorrow.

The space with a dedicated floor that morphing into a gallery space features artists like Kiran Subbaiah, Gigi Scaria, Pooja Iranna, Kavita Singh Kale, Navjot Altaf and Baiju Parthan expressing their art through different mediums. One of them is Kiran Subbaiah’s black box containing a vital SOS message from the future addressed specifically to the world of contemporary art. Also on display is Baiju Parthan’s computer generated video based around Goan priest, Abbe Faria, the inventor of hypnosis – along with Navjot Altaf’s interpretation of the city of Mumbai.

With the likes of Suri Cruise, Romeo Beckham and Willow Smith, expect the bubble of kids’ fashion soaring to the pinnacle in the coming years. Making her entry into the business is Payal Singhal with her kids wear line titled, “PS by Payal Singhal”: a line of occasion wear for young children.

Perfect as a flower girl dress or to match mommy’s outfit the ‘PS’ clothes are sized down versions of the women’s occasion wear line. Pretty pinks and pastels in tulle and crepe accented with delicate velvet and zardosi work are enough to make the little ladies look like modern day princesses. And, for boys, the designer has a line of kurtas.

Paul Smith has collaborated with The Henry Moore Foundation to get an unprecedented access to Moore’s remarkable graphics, drawings & sculpture archive. The Henry Moore Foundation is a registered charity founded by the artist in 1977 to encourage and educate the public in the appreciation of visual arts.

“I have always been a fan of Henry Moore and this is the first time a contemporary designer has been granted permission to make use of his prints and drawings on clothing. I was most privileged to visit the Henry Moore archive to select the drawings I wanted to use,” says Sir Paul Smith. The AW11 collection showcase a considered reinterpretation of Henry Moore’s iconic aesthetic; imagery of Moore’s original artworks have been used across Paul Smith clothing and accessories to create an eclectic fusion of contrasting colours, patterns and textures that stay true to their inspiration, he further added.

Designs for men and women feature painterly shapes, abstract textures and standing figure prints across garments in varying means. Prints are positioned all-over or as placement decorations and trim details; a men’s tailored wool blazer hides a printed silk lining whilst a women’s gathered jersey dress is adorned with sweeping illustration. Artwork is, in some cases, overlapped and manipulated to large scale proportions. In accessories, a square silk scarf is screen printed with figure etchings. A gentlemen’s leather billfold wallet reveals a contrasting interior.

Design inspiration is not limited to print; Moore’s conceptual aesthetic is also present in the use of modern forms and fluid lines. The collection also acknowledges Moore’s use of organic colour and definitive tone; a palette of bronze, bark and graphite is highlighted by deep red and ochre.

I mean keying in your heart is so mechanical – dairying at odd hours staring hard into illuminated screens rather than falling stars is worth recycle bin. When it comes to romance nothing comes as putting pen to paper. Writing souls can tell you that penning your deep secrets in that dainty notepad to only pigeon hole in deeper recesses is nothing less than doodling on your lover’s naked back.

Our designers understand your love for writing quite well, as it’s their own either. The attractive arrays of notepads by Vivienne Westwood, Louis Vuitton, Pierre Cardin, Mont Blanc and Paul Smith are a perfect home for your pure thoughts. Now all you need to do is to tame a dove, as these notepads are available on a click online. So embark upon a nostalgic journey in style.

Making this whole affair more captivating is the comely covers with beautiful graphic illustrations ala Louis Vuitton Mumbai notebook with an elephant on it. Paul Smith’s floral printed pad with fine quality paper leaves substitute the withered roses, but in a blooming manner. Similarly, high on style quotient are Pierre Cardin’s gold and silver leather covered diaries to flaunt yet to hide a lot.

Of late India reveled in its once in a life time moment when Lady Gaga performed on sitar ragas on the last day of F1 Indian Grand Prix after party in the Capital.

While donning a Tarun Tahiliani white fitted body suit encrusted with heavy gold and Swarovski chains, the style sensation perfectly paired it with a stylized, draped concept sari in lame and chiffon, stunning all and sundry with her perennially bold style statement.

The night came as one memorable moment for the designer either who was all exalted to hear Lady Gaga choosing one of his ensemble for her first ever performance in India. Tarun says, ““There was no greater surprise than to have the curtains go up and to see Lady Gaga give the most captivating performance I have ever seen, wearing one of my pieces. It was especially flattering that she mentioned toward the end of the concert that she could not wear the clothes she had originally brought with her after she saw it.”

The designer furthers that she had completely transformed his signature sari drapes, first into a sarong drape, then she threw the pallu off and eventually she performed in the body suit with fish net stockings and Louboutins. It was her creative genius that made 5 different looks out of 1 of our pieces.
