Remaking traditional men’s wear items like the jacket, the smoking, and the sweater is in for Fall-Winter 2011/2012, Bottega Veneta.

Old World feels, subtle patterns woven into the fabrics are obscured, indistinct, woven dark-on-dark and then overprinted creating an effect of visual texture than visible pattern. Other materials include washed and aged leathers, densely felted woolens, and soft knits that range from fine jersey shirts to chunky pullovers with irregularly placed stitch patterns. Knits are central to the collection, often used to subtly revise familiar conventions. There are tailored jackets with knit pieces, shirts that are part leather and part knit, and cardigans pulled over blazers. In a collection characterized by clarity and restraint, the most noteworthy accessories offer versatility, utility, and low-key sophistication. Bags are soft, lightweight, and above all, functional. Shoes are classic in inspiration but remade in a way that blurs the boundaries between formal and informal. There is an ankle boot and a lace-up, both easily worn with jeans or a suit.

The palette for fall is somber and moody, grounded in dark shades of espresso brown, tourmaline blue, stone, rust, and pyrite gray. Technicolor bright heightens the industrial effect—there is vivid sapphire, peridot, orange resina, and a fiery red called corniola. The silhouette is narrow and close to the body, with a natural shoulder and skinny, tapered pants. Jackets are lean and uninflected, some as lightweight and unlined as a shirt, others sharply tailored but without shoulder pads. A slim trench coat reinforces the efficient line of a narrow suit. Shirts are dark, narrow, with classic patterns cut up and reconfigured. A smoking, distilled to its essential parts, emerges in a form that can be stashed in a suitcase.

Inspired by the raw sensuality and eros of the legendary Kamasutra, Krishna Mehta fashioned a line of paintings depicting the complex yet artistic alchemy between man, woman and pure desire. Immersed in corporal passions, the characters and their depictions soon captivated the imaginations of viewers everywhere.

Compelled by the demand of her viewers and the urge to incarnate the tangible aspects of the paintings,   Krishna Mehta created a collection of garments adorned by the characters in the paintings. Bringing out the raw emotions behind intimate moments of togetherness, the garments are meticulously designed for the comfort of both men and women. The hand painted motifs and prints bring out the essence of love.

This timeless collection is not confined to any particular season. Comprising of Tunics and Churidar Kurtas for women, the collection accentuates the intrinsic beauty of the female body.  For men, the collection showcases Kurtas and Sherwanis emphasizing the raw masculinity of the male physique.

Mirari unveils their interpretation of Spring.Sumptuous pieces, a feast to the jewellery connoisseur’s eyes, have been designed for spring.  It’s the modern search for quality and novelty – the quest for the ultimate designer statement that captures each season.

Petunia’s, roses, mariposa lilies all bloom together to create a magical garden swarming with butterflies. The thought itself leads one to think of carefree and happy, spring days. The colour palette includes the shades of spring such as aquamarine blues, vibrant pinks, purples and greens with golden yellow. The Mirari galuchat cuffs come with a generous sprinkling of carved roses and stunning combinations of citrine on purple or coral with green. Sourcing matching blue onyx’s which form the wings of the Mirari butterflies along with rose shaped spinels and tourmalines was no easy feat as they’re extremely hard to put together the Butterfly Pavilion. And Crafted from exquisite carved coral and citrine roses, brilliant unflawed diamonds and freshwater pearls these pieces spell freshness are the Blooms of Spring.

Long legged lass Shruti Iyer can talk relentlessly for days with innate ease. Grown up as an awkward fat girl (she says so, but we don’t buy it), Shruti turned out to be the ‘I Am She’s 2010 finalist, charming the world with her glinting eyes and unadulterated smile.

So here is Shruti Iyer, unraveling her other side.

Tell us briefly about your early life, family and academics?
Well, I grew up in Mumbai and did my schooling from Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School. Later I pursued my graduation from Ruia College. Growing up I was an awkward fat girl. I was very talkative and hence was avoided by people…..(giggles). But then I loved dancing so joined Shiamak Davar’s Institute of performing arts and I found the perfect way to channel my energies. I lost weight and realized I was taller than average girls. So I wanted to give modeling a go and well the rest is history.

How you bumped into your first assignment?
I was selected among the top 10 finalists all over India for the Seventeen Cover Girl hunt. That happened because a friend of mine suggested my name and sent my pictures.

What did you aspire to become as kid?
I always loved the job of a teacher. As a kid I would love writing on the blackboard for
some reason and I loved talking so I figured being a teacher was the perfect job.

Your greatest achievement?
Ummm….. I think professionally it was being among the top 5 finalist in ‘I AM SHE’ 2010.

When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing?
Hanging out with friends, watching movies etc.

How has been your experience with modeling till date?
I have always loved fashion from the time I have come to know of it. And fashion is
lifestyle and if you have it,  the industry will welcome you with open arms.

Where do you see yourself 10 years down the line?
Lazing on a beach somewhere in the Bahamas. I don’t think that far.

What is fashion for you?
It’s a way of life.

Your beauty and fitness regime?
Have a lot of water, eat healthy and take up fun activities that make you happy. Trust me it shows on your face.

What is your idea of an ideal date?
On the beach at sunset with good food and good company.
