To provide the fashionistas of the city with a contemporary option for their jewellery, Vineet and Kanchan Dhingra of the multi-designer store Chamomile at Palladium held a preview featuring St Erasmus Jewellery by Pieter Erasmus (of South Africa) and other Festive Fashions at their Palladium store.

Internationally acclaimed designer Pieter Erasmus, whose jewellery is worn by celebrities like Michelle Obama and Joan Collins was present at the preview and enthralled all guests by his unique creations. His line St. Erasmus is a distinctive luxury jewelry label from South African. His collection drew inspiration from the era of forgotten grace, elegance and romance. With an intense color palette of dark greys, clear crystal and reflective silver hematite surfaces, the range drew upon classic vintage styling and effortlessly united this with bold impactful silhouettes.

Chamomile embodied this celebratory mood by putting together a new collection of Indian ensembles for Diwali and the upcoming wedding season. From delicately embellished sarees in juicy tones to elegant anarkali kurtas, from unique jewelled evening bags to quirky ‘fashion-statement’ jewellery, the store was bedecked with an eclectic collection for shoppers of every age and taste. On Saturday night, October 23rd, the biggest names in Hollywood gathered in Beverly Hills at the Beverly Hilton to benefit the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes.  The Carousel of Hope Ball celebrated its 32nd anniversary this year, having raised over $75 million to date and $2.5 million in 2010 alone, which has made it one of the most successful, celebrated biennial charity events around the globe.  Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Adrien Brody, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, Jay Leno, Sidney Poitier, Anjelica Huston, Jane Fonda, Raquel Welch, sisters Paris and Nicky Hilton, Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez (taking notice as a new, never before photographed Hollywood couple), and the night’s honorees, California First Lady Maria Shriver and Quincy Jones, sent the flashbulbs into a tizzy, leaving even the most famous in the flock star struck.

The evening’s guests arrived upon a luxurious rose-colored carpet in gowns from Yves Saint Laurent to Monique Lhuillier, exquisite glasses of bubbly by Moët & Chandon gracing their fingertips.  Upon entering the main ballroom, the attendees joined a spirited live auction where a rare Mercedes (valued at $160,000), the only one known in existence in the United States, sold for well over its asking price.  Later in the night, a lovely three-course dinner was served in the presence of a silent auction, representing the perfect pinnacle of fashion, taste, and décor in the name of a most worthy cause.  The event’s festivities ended with memorable performances by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, Gladys Knight, and Akon.

“I try so hard…I get them to understand why…and that it could affect their families, their children, their mothers, their fathers, their sisters, their brothers,” Barbara Davis was quoted saying at the Hope Ball this year.  Like Davis, who founded the Barbara Davis Center in Denver, Colorado with her late husband Marvin, many in attendance shared deeply personal stories from the devastation diabetes has caused them and their loved ones.

A night of elegance, an evening for hope, this year was a celebration of life in light of loss, leaving us a moment to remember our promise to give all children a better, brighter future.

The concept of Ahamm, a multi designer store in Khan Market, Delhi, brings under one roof, over 25 prêt and couture designers from across Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi, showcasing some collections for the first time in the capital. Delving into the consciousness of the new age Indian woman, Ahamm offers a unique space spread over two floors offering separate prêt and couture sections.

Faiza Samee, the acclaimed Pakistani designer is now a part of Ahamm. Starting with the few remaining aged embroiderers of South Asia, who had learnt their skills as young apprentices in the last vestiges of the Indian courtly tradition, Faiza Samee attempted to curate heirlooms- only to discover, much to her dismay, that many of the stitches, methods and even raw materials had already been lost. And so began the journey that has made us one of the foremost centre’s of expertise for intricate hand embroidery anywhere in the world.

Creating contemporary ensembles steeped in this cultural tradition has been a driving passion for Faiza Samee and the brand she created for the past three decades. With an ambition to systematically reintroduce these skills and disseminate them to a newer generation; simultaneously developing the aesthetic knowledge through extensive research, to intertwine them into complete, relevant and modern pieces
