LFW S/R 2010 Designer list
India’s premier fashion and trade event, Lakme Fashion Week, unveiled the names of 61 participating designers for their Summer/Resort 2010 season show.
In its constant endeavor to promote quality and ensure high standards of excellence in designerparticipation. Thus, this time LFW will see eight designers in the GenNext category, seven designers in Emerging and 40 established designers with six accessory designers, showcasing their remarkable collections.
The five day trade event will see celebrated designer Christopher Kane, described as ‘unrivalled on the fashion circuit’ by Anna Wintour and recent winner of the British Fashion Council’s Designer of the Year, present his Summer Resort 2010 collection for LAKMÉ STUDIO & CATWALK by TIGI. The event will then conclude with the spirit of “NIGHT FEVER” by designer SuneetVerma bringing alive the Lakmé Grand Finale. All designers will showcase their garments for buyers and media from India and across the globe from countries like Saudi Arabia, South Africa, UAE, UK and US.
Speaking on the occasion, Anil Chopra, Advisor – Lakmé said, “Lakmé Fashion Week has established itself as the innovator, breaking age old traditions and formats in keeping with rapidly changing times.Observing that designers are showing for the current season and not the following one, along with buyers placing orders for immediate delivery, we took the step to title and focus on the current season i.e.Summer. Further terms such as Spring and Autumn have no relevance in Indian seasons, hence been dropped. The huge increase in number of applying designers is testimony that the change has been the right one. We are also delighted to have Christopher Kane, which is a major step in our mission of ‘integrating India into the global fashionworld”.

Aanchal Oberoi
She has been on the fashion scene for over three years now and has walked the ramp for almost every Indian designer. She is a desi chic with a level head and an appetite for laughter. Coming from an army background she has that air of discipline in thought, belief and action ingrained in her. It is not in her nature to be part of controversies or hurt the feelings of another soul.
She likes to generate that aura of positivity that leads her towards her work and for the good fun in life. Meet the girl who tries to shrink away from idle chatter and loose talk but loves to hang out with her friends and family. She is the Delhite, Aanchal Oberoi.

Parent’s reaction to your choice of modeling as a career…
My parents were not conservative at all to my choice of career, rather they were quite liberal. They believed in my decision and stood by my choice. They wanted their children to have the freedom to choose their line of work and adopt the profession they want to follow. All through my career they have always been very supportive and motivated me to do everything to the best of my abilities.
First modeling assignment…
My first modeling assignment was with the designers Tarun Tahiliani and Satyapaul doing their catalogue shoot.
Greatest achievement till date…
I am still very young and have a long way ahead of me so no great achievements for me yet, just small milestones on my journey.
Idea of an ideal date
I would go for the old time romantics. For me an ideal date would be a candle light dinner sitting by the beach with nice soothing music and a good looking, decent and well spoken guy for company.
When not modeling what are you most likely to be found doing…
If not modeling I am basically chilling. I just love doing the regular things like hanging out with family and friends, watching movies, shopping and visiting new places.
Five essentials for a model to climb the ladder of success…
. Discipline and hard work
. Commitment and loyalty
. Honesty and dedication
. Self confidence
. Patience
Views on Indian vs. Western models…
I think Indian models are blessed with sharp features; great bodies and beautiful skin .They are also far more versatile and have greater adapting abilities than their foreign counterparts.
The most touching moment of your life…

Alexander McQueen R.I.P.
The British fashion designer, Alexander McQueen, reportedly committed suicide days after his mother died. He was 40 years old. His office confirmed his death stating, “It is a tragic loss. We are not making a comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen family.”
The designer was left devastated when his mother passed away on February 2. He admitted he was having trouble dealing with her death, but was committed to moving on with his life.
“i’m letting my followers know that my mother passed away yesterday if it she had not me nor would you RIP mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx but life must go on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sic),” he wrote on his Twitter page.
McQueen started making dresses for his three sisters as a child and left school at 16 to pursue a career in fashion.
He eventually received his Masters degree in fashion design at London’s prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
In 1996, he was appointed the head designer at Givenchy, where he worked until March 2001. He then founded his own eponymous label and has since won countless awards. He went on to be awarded a CBE, as well as being named International Designer of the Year at the Council of Fashion Designer Awards.
