Naveen and Deepak Mehra presented four of the most exquisite exhibit of couture jewellery at AKM Mehrasons boutique, South Extn, New Delhi. The collections were aptly titled as The Benaras Collection, The Jharoka Collection, The Marigold Collection and The Tree of Life Collection.

Showcased in three beautifully crafted trunks, the Benaras collection took inspiration from Benarasi brocades and other enduring symbols. The Jharokha collection is a finely crafted tribute to their legacy, smoothly finished round accents, the fine diamond slivers, give fashion an inimitable style of mosaic.

India is not just a nation but a big idea. A country where optimism is held sacred, alongside selflessness and sacrifice just like the Marigold, which is as tenacious as the Indian mindset, blossoming in every season- signifying optimism and harmony in diversity. It is this that reflects in Marigold collection whereas Tree of Life collection is a uniquely contemporary interpretation of ethnicity. Each piece is testimony of the quest for that ultimate feeling of contentment.

In the history of Indian jewellery, AKM has steadily created a name for itself. Over the decades, they have been the jewelers to the judicious and distinguished. The business has passed through several generations and is today managed by scions of family.

This year luxury jewelry company, Chopard, is celebrating its 150th anniversary in style.  On Thursday night, a small gathering of A-List celebrities joined Chopard at The Frick Collection in New York City to help celebrate its anniversary.  Celebrities included Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Christina Ricci, who shared some laughs and posed for photos together.  Gwyneth chose an elegant, full-length Antonio Berardi dress, while Kate was stylish in a short purple look and Christina brightened things up in a lovely green gown.  The guest list also included actress Claire Danes, designer Georgina Chapman, singer Natalie Cole and performer of the night John Legend.

Chopard is celebrating its 150th birthday by introducing its Animal World collection comprised of 150 unique animal-inspired pieces, which also happens to be the largest collection its ever made devoted to a single theme. The collection required a total of 20,000 hours of work to complete and involved setting over 250,000 stones. Chopard co-president and artistic director Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele told WWD "I really wanted to make them like sculptures." From the emerald-stuffed, fairy tale-ish frog ring to the stunning monkey pendant, Chopard’s Animal World collection is as visually stunning as it is impeccably designed and crafted.  Check out pics from the party and a few pieces from the collection.

It is in this vein that the ramp walk was organized on Saturday May 1, at the Sahara Star Hotel in Suburban, Mumbai.
The occasion attracted host of celebrities but the biggest flash was when we saw celebrity fathers walking the ramp with their ‘beti’s’.

The entire evening was conceived by eminent Fashion Designer Archana Kochhar, who had also designed the clothes for the celebrities walking the ramp. Elaborating on her efforts, she said, It was quite a task to design for 50 different individuals, as each outfit has to compliment and reflect their persona.

“It’s really overwhelming to see such support and goodwill for ‘beti’ from such eminent personalities. And I promise, we will be relentless in our pursuit to create awareness about it,” said visibly touched Anu Ranjan.

She flamboyantly captures varying influences from art deco to baroque, from Victorian to neo modern and from Rajputana to Mughal. 

It is thus the culmination of perfection, the epitome of magnificence grandeur and lavishness unparallel. The goal is to develop the luxury market in India from automobiles, hospitality, designers, apparels and accessories, interiors and lifestyle etc.  Present at the occasion was Nawab of Rampur, Kazim Ali Khan,and he talked about the evolution of luxury in India. 
 

Rekha Arora did a special showcase of her new line, summer statement neckpieces, over a relaxed lunch at Asia 7. The elegant afternoon saw some of the cities well known faces, Payal Sen, Tanisha Mohan, Sheetal Juneja and beauty expert Samantha Kochhar sporting stunning jewelry from Rika.

The summer line by RIKA had a fresh new approach to jewelry design making, her collection comprised of delicately crafted and intertwined pieces interspersed with Swarovski crystals, shells in animal print patterns and semi precious stones viz; lapis lazuli, turquoise, coral, jasper, agate and onyx.

Rekha drew her inspiration from the myriad floral blooms of spring as natural motifs and flowers found pride of place in statement neckpieces. The colors were young and presented gorgeous spring profusions as the bounty of the sea.

Launched in 2009, the RIKA jewelry design studio offers statement pieces in jewelry to create a look that is unique to the personality of the wearer. Born and brought up in Thailand Rekha was taken in by the creativity, skill and precision of the local Thai and Burmese jewelers, lapidaries and artisans.
 

The H.Ajoomal fine jewellery boutique opened its doors at the plush Palladium Mall. Harshad’s keen aesthetics was seen in his newest and most talked about first ever Jewelery Resort Collection which was the buzz amongst all his guests. The broad turquoise mosaic cuff mounted with black onyx ring and diamond and rose cuts in bezel setting was the definite eye catcher.

The guests were seen gleaming over starters and sipping on bubbly conversations on the assorted jewellery designs which include a display in circular cases that houses 6 collections – Modern Vintage, Darbaar, Gem Opaque, Simply Style, Mozambique and Bling.

Guests that were invited over Champagne High Tea to celebrate the launch were with Harshad Ajoomal’s sister, celebrity Roopa Fabiani and guests like Kaajal Fabiani, Lata Patel, Elina Meswani,  Kintu Bajaj, Debbie Hitkari, Meena Raheja, Designers Neeta Lulla, Nishka Lulla, Masaba Gupta, Deepika Gehani and Shaina NC, Sunita Menon, Gauri Pohumoll,  Mona Narang, Chhaya Momaya, Dr.Bindu Sthalekar, Suzy Mirchandani, Lascelle Simons, Anita Dongre and Meher Moos.

The city of Mumbai witnessed a glittering night of fashion, glamour & sophistication at The Taj Mahal Hotel to preview the Spring Summer 2010 collection of Lanvin, Stella McCartney and Moschino by KITSCH Kouture. 

The elegant favorites in the collection showcased, included dresses with hand-painted roses in vibrant colours by Stella McCartney, the suit with pearl trim by Moschino and the flowy jumpsuits from Lanvin. Beige, flesh and Khaki with flashes of spicy yellow, apricot and saffron are the colours for this season. 

"We have come a long way in the last few years when it comes to International designer brands. What was once just a whim or fancy while flipping through international fashion magazines are now available in India, a far cry from 10 years ago. The party got livelier with sparkling Sushmita Sen adding another twinkle to the starry night with her great charisma and shining crystal smile As Priya Sachdev Chatwal, COO & Creative Director, TSG International said "Style is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma which is followed by fashion. On a bright Tuesday afternoon Dr. Alka Nishar and Sharmilla Khanna hosted the Aza Summer Carnival in Mumbai.  On display were the summer special range from Ramona Narang’s Ibella, Mana and Isha’s Vivre and Malaga by Malini Agarwalla.

This collection included a palette of fresh and fun summer hues like cool citrus, ice rose, bright mango, pale blue, guava green and more. The beautiful compilation included the season’s flavors of short dresses, kaftans, summer cuts and easy styles.

Among the first to walk in was Shaheen Abbas. Haseena Jethmalani, Queenie Dhody, Esha Narang and many others were amazed by the stunning collection. Sisters Priya and Charu Sachdev also dropped by to congratulate the designers.
