Jonathan Cohen showcased his Spring/Summer 2019 collection during a presentation at 218 Bowery Street for New York Fashion Week SS19. We went backstage with designer Jonathan Cohen enchanting line up which was embroidered with 11,000 Swarovski crystals in shades of red and black in beautiful flower designs.

Moved by the beauty of song writing and storytelling, Cohen designed his SS19 collection with romance in mind. The collection was inspired by music from Siouxsie Sioux, Robert Smith, Lauryn Hill and Kate Bush, and each artist’s similar emotional tale of love and loss.

The whimsical pieces sparkled with 11,000 Swarovski crystals added to petal and floral designs, with multi-shaped crystals blended with organza accentuating the designer’s nostalgic exploration of the power of love and emotion.

Jonathan Cohen commented: “I have a real passion for the art of storytelling, whether it be in books, movies, or songs. My goal with this collection was to translate that feeling into my clothes – to convey an emotion – and in my opinion, nobody does that better than songwriters. To be able to work the finest crystals into our pieces is a dream come true.”

It’s the time of the year again where designers redefine the future of fashion, accompanied by stylists, fashion photographers, hair and make-up artists…not to miss the reporters and all digital mediums who help them reach faster on the global scale.

Continuing its exquisite journey of its much sought after calendar, we bring you the teaser video as we go behind the scenes in London where the Pirelli Calendar 2018 was shot by Tim Walker.

01

For coming year’s Calendar, Tim Walker, through a series of surreal, dream like images, revisits a story first told in 1865: “Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland” by the English mathematician and writer the Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known as Lewis Carroll.

01

Inspired by this fantastic narrative, Tim Walker’s images are tableaux vivant full of allusions, improbable situations and illusory proverbs. He, like many great artists inspired by the story, has created his own version, one that features 17 black protagonists from the worlds of fashion, music, cinema and the underground of rap.

He even has showcased his collections at prestigious fashion events worldwide including in Dubai, Bucharest, New Delhi, Mexico and the Caribbean, as well as in cities in the USA.

He has this unique style of presenting the fashion show with a blend of Broadway entertainment. Our ambassador Mahealani Diego in New York brings some exclusive pictures of models doing fittings for Aquino.

In preparation for   upcoming Lakme Fashion Week, designer  Monisha Jaising, Priyangsu & Sweta, Asa Kazingmei, Jaya Bhatt and Ruchi Tripathi is seen draping and checking the visual appearance of their designs on models, at thefittings session at St. Regis Hotel, Mumbai.

We bring you the secrets behind the making of the Dior Fall/Winter 2016-2017, with an exclusive peek into the ateliers of the iconic French label.

The collection: black silhouettes as crisp as the sheets of white paper on which they spring to life: dense, textured, embroidered and quilted. There follow hand-painted dévoré velvets, re-colored jacquards inspired by one of Monsieur Dior’s iconic sketches – the one of the Ice Cream dress –, fragments of color, embroidered motifs atop prints, a touch of leopard… Everything lies in the mix and the compilation.

The Gabardine Lace campaign by Burberry is revealed by British actresses Holliday Grainger and Clara Paget. Shot in London by photographer Mario Testino, under the creative direction of Christopher Bailey, the collection references English heritage lace detailed on the gold metal temples, inspired by draped gabardine and include polished metal and acetate frames.

The acetate colour palette features tortoiseshell, dark amber gradient and military red gradient. Shapes include butterfly and square acetate sun frames and square and cat-eye acetate optical frames.

What happens backstage before fashion week is always amazing and noteworthy. With designer trying to work upon their outfits to fit models, itself is a heroic task.
