Each glittering crystal in this installation signifies the joyous traditions of the festivities.

Born on November 28, 1976 in Kerala, Anand Jon graduated from Institute of Fort Lauderdale and later from Parsons The New School for Design. He did his internship with famous designer Donna Karan.

In 1998, he launched spring 99 debut collection ‘Amazone’ inspired by the trinity of Shakti: Goddess culture and fall 99 ‘Arcane’. He was famous for embroideries on skirts, pants and dresses and a new crop of leather looks with crystal details. In later years he was joined by his sister Sanjana Jon for a new jewellery line.

In 2007, he was rated as hottest new designers and he appeared as a celebrity judge on “America’s Next Top Model”. The Consul General of India, Mrs Shashi Tripathi at a press conference introduced Anand Jon as one of the outstanding cultural ambassadors of India.

Anand Jon was among selected designers at the NYC 2000 fashion show on Times Square. He is known for his on 2006 MTV Movie Awards, 40 Most Awesomely Bad Dirrty Songs, Ever and America’s Next Top Model. His designs attracted prominent names like Nadja Swarovski, Lynn Whitfield & Susan Lucci, musician Alanis Morrisette, Mary J Blige, Mya, Ananda Lewis and Courtney Love to name a few.

Sex assault allegations against Alexander began surfacing in 2007 from California, Los Angeles, Texas and New York. Later a court in Los Angeles sentenced him to jail for 59 after finding him guilty. His sister is still fighting for his justice, as she believes he is innocent.

His memorable last fashion show was Anand Jon W/ Paris Hilton where celebrated Hollywood actress Paris Hilton wore his stunning designs.

New York Fashion Week has been around for a decade but there is been a kind of instability and long list of complaints attached to the organizers IMG. Lincoln Center area residents are upset too besides designers, editors, buyers and photographers.

To overcome all, MBFW, which has been owned by IMG since 2001, has now become the property of WME and Silver Lake. As for now IMG is into contract with Lincoln center till 2015, taking forward WME and Silver Lake will have their work cut out to make MBFW in New York more compelling and the show venues more attractive to designers and a better experience for editors and buyers.

This season’s six designers hand-picked by the new eighteen members Advisory Board was made from 150 + submissions and through a pre-selection of 30 entries.

To be mentored by Anita Dongre the new Gen next  designers will debut at the upcoming season of Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014 that will be held from 12th to 16th March 2014 in Mumbai.
