If you are the one who starts pulling their hair in disgust on the mention of Gangnam Style, you are not the only one. The video featuring South Korean pop sensation PSY which went viral recently somehow embodies the contemporary Korean culture, very phenomenon of K-pop and its fascination with artificial beauty and gaudy fashion.

The very innards of this shape shifting Korean society are highlighted in a video by Vice which brings to the fore some interesting facts. From hello kitty cute couples opting for matching innerwear to the fad of plastic surgeries, the Capital of South Korea, Seoul seems flourishing on its unconventional alternative mores and definitions.

With social and sexual conventions being softened gradually, the city has its own distinct definition of beauty and fashion with vanity being its favourite sin. The plastic surgery capital of the world, Seoul boasts of the highest number of surgeries per capita with one out of 5 girls in the city having gone through some kind of facial surgical procedure, and plastic surgeries being the most popular graduation gifts for girls by their parents.

The obsession with Western look, going under knife for double eyelids and getting face with more volume seem to have taken over the young rebellious shape-shifting crowd of the city which overtly attribute the fascination for plastic surgeries to their intense desire to look as pretty as celebrities.
