The luxury mobile phones by Vertu have their adobe in India now, as the luxury mobile phone maker launched its first standalone boutique at DLF Emporio in New Delhi.
To commemorate its entrance into the Indian market, Vertu organized a celebratory event co-hosted by Perry Oosting, President, Vertu and couturier Tarun Tahiliani. On the occasion Vertu in collaboration with Smile Train, a New York based organization working for children – presented its first charity handset, Constellation Smile – a unique variant of its recent smartphone, Constellation Touch.
The unique partnership will see Vertu donating Euro 200 from each handset to the charity providing free corrective surgery for children with unrepaired cleft lips and palates. The brand has committed at least Euro one million to Smile Train through the sales of this model.
Vertu also commissioned world renowned photographer Mary McCartney (daughter of British pop legend, Sir Paul McCartney) to curate a series of inspiring imagery documenting the journey of the children whose lives have been changed for the better as a result of receiving surgery. Loved ones of the children such as family, friends, teachers and doctors and those who support the children on an on-going basis also feature in a short accompanying documentary.
Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Tahiliani said “Vertu is synonymous with luxury and I am delighted to be associated with a brand that exemplifies handcrafted elegance, pioneering technology and a spirit of innovation. The cause that the Constellation Smile supports is unique yet socially relevant. The launch of this boutique sets new standards in the country for luxury and service.”
The event witnessed few illustrious names from all walks of life savoring scrumptious gastronomy delights with champagne. The attendees included Rohit Bal, Gaurav Gupta, Sumeet Nair & Gitanjali Kashyap, Sanjay & Sheena Sharma, Ameeta Seth, Ayesha Thapar, Shivv Singh, Vikram Goyal, Ramola Bacchan, Subodh Gupta, Radhika Jha and Kalyani Chawla amongst others.
