Marc Cain CelebratesThe celebrations of 5th anniversary of German fashion label Marc Cain was lately held, along with the unveiling of Spring Summer 2012 line, at its Juhu store in Mumbai, over champagne and canapé.

The line focuses on intensive shining colors, large prints, extreme graphics and maximum lengths with romance created by laces and flounces in contrast to masculine boyfriend pieces such as shirts, trench coats and shorts. Technical and futuristic materials inspired from active wear such as neoprene, rubberized yarns, bonding, techno and heavy jerseys lends a fresh nuance. The new silhouettes of the dresses, voluminous at the top and narrow at the bottom, along with the comeback of the skirt in the form of midis and maxis bring variety to the collection.

The evening soiree witnessing the anniversary celebrations and the launch of the collection was hosted by Punit Agarwal and Dina Singh, and was well attended by the glam brigade of the tinsel town. Auction for Differently AbledTreasure Trove II, the second edition of much awaited fundraising auction of artworks, jewellery, luxury collectibles and unforgettable experiences was recently organized by The Research Society for the Care, Treatment and Training of Children In Need of Special Care, a charitable organization working for the welfare of differently abled children, at The Trident in Mumbai.

The event hosted by Zia Mody, BijalMeswani and Farah Khan saw a treasure trove of luxury products like ‘Sweet Charity’ handbag by Christian Louboutin, customized child art clutch by Judith Leiber, ruby & diamond earrings by Rose, wall clock by Corum and a limited edition carpet by Jahangir Sabavala, to be auctioned. The artworks included the paintings by the likes of SH Raza, Satish Gujral, Anjali Ela Menon and PareshMaity. 

The highlight of the evening was the auction of experiences like a coffee date with Ranbir Kapoor, a bike ride with John Abraham, two coveted center court seats to The Wimbledon Men’s final match and box seats for two at the forthcoming IPL final.

About the even Farah Khan said, “Nothing gives me more pleasure than doing something for The Research Society that is doing such fantastic work for these children with mental challenges – especially when I am aware that over 40% of the students at the school are below poverty line.”

The event saw the glitterati and chatterati of the city pouring in to support the cause.
