The page in addition to posting global content in the local language will also showcase local news, events and celebrities.
Charu Parasher Couture
It was a splendid moment for designer Charu Parasher as she launched her couture collection Spring Summer 2012 recently at Crowne Plaza, New Delhi.
The collection is inspired by the vivid minarets of Persian mosque, geometric tapestry of Turkish floors and the ethereal colors Middle Eastern ceramic arts. Recreating the young and iridescent beauty of the debutante bride, the collection beautifully redefines Indian silhouettes to a European chic. It revolves around luxe pieces creating a fragile magical look with its silhouettes which are slim and floor skimming. Sheer, paneled gowns with plunging necklines and tasteful embellishments like the satin rose or the beaded bodice reflect the femininity.
Further, cocktail dresses with backless details, fine tulle saris with print appliques, floor skimming kalidar kurtas and heavily embellished jackets in silk velvet form the collection. Embellishments in crystals and encrusted jewels take fragile forms in Turkish patterns and heavy appliqué work with hues of Indian zardozi form an infused look. The color palette is comprised of light cappuccino, teal, midnight blue, indigo, charcoal and blood red.

Gaurav Gupta for Grammy
Janina Zione Gavankar, an Indian-American actress and musician of mixed Indian and Dutch descent, wore Gaurav Gupta dress at the recently concluded 2012 Grammy award function.
A trained pianist, vocalist, and orchestral percussionist called it as a mermaid dress. She said it’s delicate like a porcelain statue with indigenously developed lace yet so strong on a woman’s body.
Janina is a perfect choice for this dress. She is strong, vivacious, mysteriously confident yet magnanimously feminine, said Gaurav. The statuesque dress with its exquisite lace and three dimensional embroidery fitted beautifully to Janina, added the designer.
Etro at MFW A/W 2012
Designer Veronica Etro has returned the House’s iconic Paisley to its noble roots for her Autumn/ Winter 2012 – 13 collection showcased at the Milan Fashion week. A beautiful blend between the history and the contemporary along with tradition fused with innovation illustrates the designer’s portrayal.
Etro Women’s Autumn Winter silhouettes revealed a feminine approach with a seductive touch but demonstrating heartiness as the outfits throw a light on the dandy elements borrowed from the menswear. A series of unique treatments, from laser-cut patchworks to decorative trompe-l’oeil effects elevate the pattern above its traditional form But the paisley motifs remain the nucleus of the collection. Stitching and netting is implied in the form of 3D framing around the paisley motifs. While very intricately, the laser cut mechanism is drawn so that when the Paisley prints are inserted onto black tulle bases or sheer netting it brings out the impression of body tattoos. The outfits showed off the body curves with its fascinating corset detailing which included meticulous lace treatment, paneling and tulle intarsias inserted in printed cady stretch dresses. Refined patchworks truss the rich velvets, jacquards and tweeds together in the collection.
Etro donned asymmetrical biker jackets, floor length dresses, stiffened jackets and coats featuring molded bodies, godet skirts, A-line coats and fishtail gowns through her new range whilst the designer’s leather peplum belts offer a new form of layering over snug pencil skirts and the micro-patterned jacquards musing on men’s ties exemplifies a stroke of graphic with fishnet. But the designer’s beguiling laser cut stretch embroidery leggings and ornate patent leather embroideries worn as a film over Paisley dresses was bizarrely crafted.
Alluring Gunmetal jewelry showcasing oversized crystal necklaces were sported with sweaters while the shoes come down to the ground in simple satin stiletto pumps with lace up ankles and pointy toe booties with tie-fabric and ostrich skin inserts. An aesthetic range of handbags bringing to light the rigid treasure boxes covered in skate skin, hard frame bags infused with opaque crocodile print leather along with patchworks of bright lizard complete Etro’s Lady Paisley.
