Fashion and music are like paramours pandering by the mutual desires. Brimming with love for music, or chalk it up to the exponentially intensifying Chinese love for luxury,    Gucci Timepieces & Jewellery came up with the announcement of music funds to discover and nurture young talented musicians across Greater China.

‘Gucci Timepieces & Jewellery Music Fund’ aims at providing scholarships to young musicians within the framework of an international music exchange program in collaboration with the Grammy Awards and The Recording Academy.

It’s Gucci’s Love for Music

The young talents will be selected from the prestigious music establishments in the country and the most exceptional of the chosen ones will get a chance to enter Grammy Programs in U.S.

The initiative highlights the Gucci’s longstanding commitment to support the music and arts.  Gucci’s support of music is expressed by the partnership signed in 2010 between Gucci Timepieces & Jewelry and The Recording Academy, internationally known for the Grammy Awards. The Gucci–Grammy initiative supports the programs of the Grammy Museum and will help preserve historically significant moments and recordings from our global musical heritage.

Kate MiddletonThe duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton’s exquisite wedding gown has been nominated for the Design of the Year award by the Design Museum of London. The royal wedding gown designed by Sarah Burton is facing the biggest challenge from the 2012 London Olympic torch which has proven itself the brawniest competitor by including its name in the nomination category for the best design. The London’s Olympic torch was a creation led by the designer duo of east London Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.

With an attempt to define the gold torch more as a sports apparatus, it was not made in the style of a trophy by the designers. The Olympic torch will be spotted during the London 2012 games. While the most popular outfit of 2011, the ivory wedding dress of the duchess has already stunned the entire fashion fraternity across the globe when it first divulged during last April at the royal nuptials. Kate’s gown hasn’t lost its aura yet and still maintains to remain as the most discussed outfit.

The 2011/12 autumn winter collection by Mary Katrantzou and Céline, the Ethical Fashion Africa Collection by Vivienne Westwood’s along with the grand Savage Beauty exhibition by Alexander McQueen featured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s  has also entered the nomination.  Starting from the royal wedding gown to the McQueen’s exhibition all fall under the fashion perimeter.

Architecture, Digital, Furniture, Graphics, Product and Transport are the other categories reserved for the prestigious award ceremony. A proficient panel will select one label or brand for each category and only after the procedure is over, the best portrayal will be crowned with the Design of the Year.

The award ceremony will be held on the 24th of April at the Design Museum.

Nail paint for menMan sporting nail paint, yes exactly it sounds pretty bizarre but Alphanail.com has tried to cross this eerie perimeter with the launch of their new range of matte and metallic nail armor exclusively for men.

Though it sounds uncanny but the website keeps quite logical reason behind its approach by initiating nail varnishes for men. Mens are often found sporting either grimy or crooked toe nails, so by applying this new range of matte and metallic armor they can hide their nails and come up with a better appeal. The initiator tends to opine that men sporting the nail lacquer are more masculine in nature than the one’s who don’t. According to Alphanail.com one can attain the tag of a true alpha male by coating their shades.

Smoke, Gasoline and Burnin’ Rubber are the titles of the lacquers which compiles this bizarre range of nail armor. Shades like mauve, grey and navy are the mainstay of the collection adapted to accentuate a man’s appeal. Nick Gonzalez, the American kick boxer and Roger Huerta, the martial art champion were found flaunting Alphanail’s shades at the ring while endorsing for the website’s spanking range. Now whether the website will be able to change the mind set up and spread the drift, that only time can answer.

Doutzen KroesEvery time you click on a twitter page of Coco Rocha, or say Priyanka Chopra (the Queen of Social Media, here in India), the voyeur inside you gets pandered by the frequent updates, chronicling the daily pursuits of the models and celebrities. All you need to do is ‘follow’ to be a part of their clique, though virtually.

The popularity of social media for a while now is turning the table in terms of celebrity culture where people end up emulating the best in the business following the recommendations and circadian affairs of the ones standing on higher social echelons. Contrariwise, it proves to be an effective tool of personal branding for the latter.

In a recent interview to an international publication famous model, Doutzen Kroes with over 1.5 million followers on Twitter said, “When I started, models were booked only for their cheekbones. Now I think I get bookings because people will say they respect me, or we stand for the same things, or they think what I have to say is interesting. It’s better to hear that than just, ‘You have gorgeous cheekbone.’”

Hearing about models’ everyday lives is what intrigues the viewers to follow them. Their expertise on fashion, beauty, fitness, nutrition and food is reliably trusted upon. Moreover, models who keep travelling to the exotic locales and glamorous podiums across the world give enough entertainment fodder to the masses.

Model-turned-actor Bharat Kundra thinks that social media plays an important part in a model’s life since one can stay in touch with concerned people from all over the world with a click of a button. He utters, “I personally have been contacted many times through my facebook profile for work from all over India and abroad. I think a facebook profile represents your personality to the world so every update or picture you upload makes a difference in how industry professionals look at you since everyone is on it now.”

Miss Universe India 2010 Ushoshi Sengupta says, "Ok I have to accept that I am twitter addict but I feel facebook is more user friendly and I get a lot of work queries on them, though some are genuine but some are not. Moreover, a lot of people who love me and my work connect to me through these site. It’s like a small social network family out there."

Ushoshi with a considerable influence on twitter thinks that social media is a great way of self PR as you can update your work or anything on just a click. She furthers, "Specifically, what I love about twitter is that there are no limitations…you can follow as many people as you want to and vice versa. So guys be ‘twittersmart’ and follow me @ ushoshi."

Bharat concludes, “I used social networking to make public opinion on crucial matters like Lokpal bill and spread awareness and also to call support for charity. Moreover, as I travel a lot it gives me a platform to share my experiences and offer advises and help others if needed.”
