Celebrating ten years presence in India, Schwarzkopf Professional organised a gala fashion show followed by the launch of their unique coffee table book. The title ‘Making Heads Turn’ captures from cover to cover the journey of this hair care brand from Henkel group, in this country.  Mr Anil Chopra, CEO Lakme Lever (P) Ltd unveiled the first copy.  Readers who are passionate about hair styling can find the best looks from the Indian as well as the international hair scene. Also there are added attractions like sneak peeks of the back stages of haute couture fashion shows, interesting clients, fun events and more.

Showcasing some of the head turning looks on the ramp as well, the gala fashion show was split into two sessions – the Bollywood inspired hair trends and the most popular looks that have evolved over the last decade. The first session was totally engaging with models not only sporting the retro look in their attires and hair do but also dancing to the tunes of Dum Maro Dum…, Piya Tu ab toh aaja, Kaj ra re and the likes. High on energy level, the dramatic hair styles kept changing from bouffant, pony tails, long straight hair to soft curls and French rolls for women while the punk look of Dhoom or the cool dude spikes and feather cuts made the male models rock as well. There was an interesting use of head gears and hair accessories like bands, clips, feathers and the likes to make the appeal even more stunning and stylish.

The second session put forward the ‘must have’ Essential looks such as – short blunt, long flicks, thick fringes, boho- chic red streaks, blond mesh, yellow stands intervened, soft, messy curls and ironed straight hair looks. There was a great emphasis on ‘easy-to-wear’ hair styles keeping in mind the fast pace lifestyle in today’s world. Model and actress Sonal Singh Chauhan walked the ramp as the show stopper. Her side locks hung as loose French rolls adding softness to the face, while the mid length hair was lightly twigged to add a wavy look that was complete with soft curls at the edges.

With the end of a decade in the 2k era the world seems to be evolving a bit more conscious, a bit more responsible, a bit more awake and also equally progressive. There has been a collective rise in the conscious levels from corners far and wide with every individual involved in something to make the difference reverberate.

Here we talk of another such effort that is as heartfelt as sensuous and as fashion. It is the One Dress Project, the reason for its existence is to raise awareness and funds on behalf of organizations around the world that enhance and protect women’s health, reduce violence against women, educate young girls, and support women to play an active role in society. Actress and trendsetter Angelina Jolie loves the ‘one’ dress. The dress is an absolute manifestation of women grace beauty elegance and power. There is no right or wrong way to wear the One-Dress, however, it provides you the liberty to dress up in several fun ways.

The "One Dress" has been collectively designed and created by women from around the globe via online social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, ASmallWorld, YouTube as well as the One Dress Project Online Community. Women from around the world were asked to share information about their lifestyle, personal desires, and visions for a better world. Women also shared, for the sake of this project, how their lives relate to one simple – but truly important piece of clothing – the DRESS. By sharing their likes and dislikes in fabrics, colors, necklines, silhouettes, seasons, etc. the "One Dress" was conceived, incubated and now released into the universe.  A portion of all profits from the One Dress Project will go to benefit the organizations/charities CARE and KIVA.

Designer Haasya Chandna opened her first ever show at the Blender’s Pride Bangalore Fashion Week 2011, Mattan Hotel, Bangalore. Actress Kulraj Randhawa was seen walking the ramp as a show stopper for Haasya.

Haasya’s latest collection ‘Transcendence’ means the creation of beauty from abstract into concrete forms. Transcendence is her inspiration from art that starts off with a blank canvas which is then splashed with colours making it an abstract form of art. Haasya has decided to take us through the journey of this transformation in a rewind mode meaning her collection begins with abstract prints which then leads onto solid colors.

This collection is divided into a three series color palette, ranging from vibrant yellows to tangerines, eclectic blues/greens toned to beiges/greys tantalizing reds, greens and black in order to capture and display the entire mood of this abstract transformation. While the fabric, silk satin is carefully chosen she has used embellishments like the mother of pearl, metal belts and appliques which are embraced into forms of short dresses and gowns with various drapes. The collection mainly consists of stylish, well cut international designs for women some in prints as well as solids.

When the exotica setting of Cibo turns rosy pink to celebrate love, it leaves no table unturned to capture the sensual feeling of love, romance, seduction and luxury wrapped in a finely designed menu for a blissful experience with your object of love.  This week long heightened love affair at Cibo begins from the 7th of February and goes on to the ecstasy of romance till the 14th of February, 2011.

Chef Nishant Choubey who believes in keeping the menu small and doing it right has planned a platter that allows you to indulge in mouth smoldering delicacies in between your sensuous conversations that never seem to be saturated with lovebirds. Along with the usual drink menu of assorted selection of wine and whisky the Valentine’s Day menu brings on table the sinful potion of Pinky Vodka.

With the clinking of glasses you can order for the flow of starters choosing from heart shaped pizza with toppings of mushrooms, zuuchini, bell peppers, prawn, calamari, oysters  toppings, Salmon ceviche with tequila shots, handpicked mushroom pate with truffle oil and red apple chips. A brilliant combination soft luscious bite sizes served with a visual treat. After you have procceded a little ahead in whispers and the evening becomes cozy enough it would be the right time to get the table warm with appetizer selection. Here you have only a choice between the vegetarian and non-vegetarian and you can go for either Sundried tomato and pinenut ravioli with avocado and cilantro dressing or Lobster parfait with teardrop tomatoes and pink champagne sabayon (its tough choice even between the two and even if have canine flavors).

The wine and love keeps flowing for a memorable evening, a time spent with passion and satisfaction. And we proceed to the main course.  And again the special luxurious food adds palette and you can go for Lasagne with parmesan foam and maraschino cherry if you are vegetarian or Pistachio crusted rack of French duck breast with potato soufflé and liquorice jus.

The perfect evening finishes with the perfect desert as the chef sweetens your tongue with Heart shaped pink champagne cake with ginger biscuits and cherry sauce, Strawberry cheese cake with boysenberry coulis and 24 k gold leaf and Chocolate and ricotta pie with cranberry reduction and lime chips.

Space Matrix, a growing design and architecture firm organized an international fashion show in Mumbai by leading fashion designers from across the globe combining elements of sustainability and innovation lending fashion socially responsible streaks.

The fashion show showcased the work of five designers including Wendell Rodricks, who has used natural dyes in his work. The other designer contributing is Brazil’s Osklen. Recycling considered vital to sustainability is represented by designer Shilpa Kukreja by giving old saris a new look. Shaguta Anurag, founder of space matrix also presented a line for the cause of non-violent/ahimsa silk. Saris made from this silk are hand painted by traditional Madhubani and Kalamkari methods thus providing employment to several artisans.

All the garments exhibited at the event will be auctioned across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Singapore. The proceeds equally matched by Space Matrix will go to Kerala based charity, Ability Aids India International, in support of destitute children and seniors and physically challenged.

On the occasion Anurag Srivastava, CEO of Space Matrix stated, “Our mission is to design with purpose. We believe that such fashion show could bring sustainability closer to individuals as clothes are easier to relate to then may be buildings and dams”
