The 27th edition of AIFW A/W 2016 commenced like a dream with the adept collection of Varun Bahl. The designer has virtuously put his inspiration in his work. His collection, called “Nocturne”, inspired by jungles is nothing short of a dream world. The whole collection was a result of an amalgamation of nature and its fantasy.

There were garments which used owls, horses, squirrels and ducked as their motifs; whereas on the other side of the coin was pomegranate. All of them juxtaposed together made for the perfect fall collection. What complimented the designs were the cuts he used. Straight hemlines, A-line skirts and slim trousers which were very organically mixed with jackets, bombers and even tunics. Cowl necks and frills coming out of straight hem lines add romance and drama to the body.

He used colors which conventionally remind you of a forest, all of which include ivory, beige, olive green, leaf green, teal, peach, black, orange, mustard, pale-rose and fuchsia. The choice of fabrics which Bahl has used enhanced the receptivity of the designs and made it more wearable, which include neoprene , hand woven silk , heavy crepe to light as air tulle.

Adding to all of this was the setting of the ramp and the makeup of the models, the messy bun they sported showed the carefree attitude of tribal women. The collection ended in a very sober yet delicate party wear collection from the ace designer.
