    Review

Monisha showcased some of the most sought after gowns at India couture week. They were modern, with an interesting blend of Eastern and Western details. Her collection took inspiration from “Opera” with airy silhouettes, plunging necklines and high slits.

The fabrics used in the collection were varied ranging from velvet, lamé, metallics, tulle, chickankari, Italian organza, banarasi, metallic satin amongst others. A blend of conventional and contemporary works was seen in her lehengas, evening dresses, cocktail sarees, evening gowns, crop tops and ball skirts.

“The inspiration for my collection was triggered by the fond memory of the Opera house flowing with people in their finery. I find the whole process of displaying this finery starting from the entrance, walking up the palatial stairways, to the seating area to be exceptionally enticing! You can sort of say that it is a fashion show for the people by the people.” says the designer herself.
