In the midst of one the largest fashion events the country has seen, it is easy to forget the craft that inspired it. Anita Dongre’s ‘Grassroot’ collection of Autumn Winter 2016 is an ode to the craft that inspired, flourished and is now diminishing.

Dongre whipped out an assortment of contemporary separates made with a lot of block print from Rajasthan and Gujarat, patchwork technique and the Kantha stitch. The popular designer’s thought behind making the collection of separates was premeditated, so that wearer has the liberty to style the separate their way and make it their own.

The entire line-up saw a lot of jackets, shirtdresses, palazzos and long coats. Dongre believes that the beautiful textile used for collection has, in turn, resulted in wardrobe pieces the wearer would want to preserve for a long time.

As far as the colour palette in use, the designer used colours that were typically autumn-winter and earthy. Apart from contemporary designs and diminishing Indian art, the collection was high on comfort.
