Model, singer, actor, dancer, Srividya Srikumar is a versatile talented lass who loves to explore the world. A tall and slender globe trotter with a beautiful smile has been to the different shore of the world and lives the life the way it comes.

Fashionfad got in a conversation with Srividya at the Delhi Couture Week 2011 where she narrated her journey to the aisles of modeling.

Tell us something about your formative years and academics.
Well, I was born in Delhi and travelled extensively throughout the country attending different institutions to satiate my effervescent curiosity. I studied at Green Fields, Delhi, attended BGV Kodaikanal and learnt bharatnatyam at Kalakshetra, Chennai. I majored in Business Administration and worked in a law firm in Singapore. I also worked as a stylist in Kimaya in 2009-2010.

How modeling happened to you?
My family always used to motivate me for modeling. Meanwhile, I lost a lot of weight and my brother introduced me to Prasad Bidappa at a party, and thus my first shoot was for Tarun Tahiliani.

What are the pros and cons of being a model?
Modeling industry is a place where you get to travel a lot to good locations and meet very talented people with interesting stories. It gives a lot of exposure and evolves one as a person. It’s a con less job….(smiles)

Tell us something about yourself. I mean, who is Srividya?
Srividya is a traveller by heart who loves to pack his bags and sets off to explore the untraveled lands and unseen dimensions. Every morning I get up, I take the life the way it comes. I believe in going with the flow.

Which Indian and International designers you admire most?
In India I love Tarun Tahiliani most for his exquisite design sensibility to create wonders with the thread, and internationally, Elie Saab for gowns and Vivienne Westwood for her quirkiness and bizarreness.

Modeling industry in India is often alleged of working in cliques based on favoritism. What’s your take on this industry?
If you are here, you are here. The key is patience which you need to have in abundance to thrive in this industry.

What’s your take on substance abuse and suicides which are so prevalent in this industry?
Models as human beings are like everybody else. It’s just a heavy dose of glamour, nice clothes and attractive people all around which catch the attention of all and sundry. Moreover, substance abuse exists everywhere. The doctors preparing drugs in their chambers are not under the constant media glare like the way we are. It depends on a person, not the profession.

Our male readers would love to know about the men Srividya finds attractive. Tell us about your kind of a man.
(Smiles) Well, it can be anyone provided he is focused towards his work. For example Woody Allen’s intellect is really appealing. Moreover, I love the men who can get sarcasm.

What is your style statement?
I am a big shoe addict who loves to experiment with whatever I wear. For me clothes are all about wearing different characters, complimenting your fluctuating moods.  I love to wear well-tailored clothes, no matter whether they are stitched by a local darzi or by Donna Karan or Gucci.

What are your passions other than modeling?
As I am a trained singer and dancer so I love indulge in them whenever I get time. I am also interested in medicines and have been through a lot of medical exposure which sometimes come handy backstage.
