Suffering from lower sales and tough price competition, Wal-Mart dismissed several senior executives in China in order to scale down the costs in the country.

In the words of a spokesperson from Wal-Mart, the attempt will enable the company to create a better efficient structure so that the business competes at a higher pedestal in the future.

500As many as 30 senior executives have been dismissed, including directors and vice presidents from Wal-Mart China and Sam’s Club China.

Meanwhile, Wal-Mart has been facing major set-backs in China where 0.8% fall in China sales during the quarter to Oct. 31 were reported, which was attributed to government austerity measures and deflation.

However, last October, the company planned to open 110 facilities in China between 2014 and 2016, while closing some outlets as part of an overhaul of its business there.
