Narendra Kumar, a graduate of NIFT, Delhi, also studied at the London School of Fashion has not only been involved but also composes the building blocks of fashion business for over 13 years now. So as he decides to adorn the opening show at Indian Premier London Fashion Week on 10th May, Fashionfad.in focuses on the case sensitive issues dealing with fashion and the fashion weeks in India.

How and why did you choose to be a part of IPLFW?
I find it as a great platform with terrific potential and opportunity for Indian designers to present their collections abroad as a group other than the individual designers showcasing at international events. And thus I am really excited about the entire concept and can foresee a great and promising future for such models of Fashion weeks.

What is the kind of market or Buyers that this show would cater to?
Obviously we plan to tap the London market and do not expect buyers from all over the world to pour in. The IPLFW is very focused in its approach and far more easier and accessible for the London Buyers as well to drop in and interact with Indian designers.

Why the dates for IPLFW postponed the first time (caused a little confusion)?
There were certain authentic genuine reasons of non availability of Visa with a few designers and thus the dates were postponed to ensure the grandness of the event. A big event like this with a new concept if suffers little glitches does not mean that it should be misjudged. I have absolute confidence in the event and it managers to put up a great show.

Tell us something about the collection that you would be showcasing here…
My collection for IPLFW is about an alternative story of life in Mumbai. We have always seen and associated Mumbai with Bollywood but this is all about the other person. It’s a winter palette with greys and blacks in new structured silhouette. There are a good dose denims and Indian embroideries as well in my collection.

(Last but not the least) How do you see the future of fashion in India?
Quite an elaborate answer would be required but I sum it up for you in just three words, It Is Great.
