1Esteemed Director and Author at the Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, Valerie Steele and curators  Ariele Elia and Elizabeth Way picked out Designer Wendell Rodricks’ opening gown constructed  on a swimsuit with ‘Beyonce worthy’ side show, to be included in the Global Fashion Capitals exhibition that opens in New York on 3rd June 2015.

The Wendell Rodricks gown that opened the AIFW by FDCI was chosen to join the ranks of designers from Worth to Dior in Paris and traces the trend of global fashion capitals Milan, London, New York, Tokyo to more recent fashion capitals the world over. Indiandesigner Manish Arora is also represented at the unique exhibition. But it is Rodricks 30 metres net panels built on a silver lycra swimsuit that is the most recent gown (from Spring/Summer Resort 2015) that will be added to the exhibit’s unique tracing of fashion’s emerging capitals from Paris to India.2

Says the Goan designer, “I am happy that India will take it’s place via Delhi and Mumbai among the world’s fashion capitals. We had a lot of hard work and fun putting together this fuschia and orange gown with floating satin orbs and circles in satin suspended from nylon wires. I am indeed honoured and happy for both Amazon and FDCI that Indian fashion advances on a global platform”.
